PV WEEKLY
WEEK 1 EDITION - 9/1/26-9/4/26
OFF AND RUNNING!
We had a successful first week of school here at PV. There were a lot of smiles and a few tired faces (getting adjusted to new sleep schedules can be tough), but it really has been a great start. We had our first class meetings of the year where we focused on the following:
Attendance/Being on Time
A Continued focus on the Pillars of Character
Your Own Individual Academic Goals
Increased Responsibilities
Community Involvement and Collaboration
We discussed academic and behavior expectations as well as upcoming events. The meetings were a great kickoff to the year and I hope the students are excited for everything that will be happening in the coming months. In case you missed the welcome back letter, please find it here: 26-27 Welcome Back Letter
Enjoy the long weekend and we will see our students back in the building on Wednesday, September 9th.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PARKING LOTS AND CROSSWALKS
Please remember that the parking lot between the school building and the public library is for staff only. Parents or other visitors are not permitted to enter this lot. Please remind your child to only cross Newark-Pompton Turnpike at the crosswalks. Safety is everyone's responsibility and we need the help of our parents to ensure this.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT 2026
Back to School Night at PV will be September 17th at 7:00.
PV PICTURE DAYS
PV picture days are September 15th and 16th. Pictures will take place on your child's PE day, so please check their schedule and the calendar.
6TH GRADE FUN NIGHT - SEPTEMBER 11TH
The first social event of the year is for all 6th grade students next Friday, September 11th from 5:00-6:30 here at PV. Students will bring home permission slips next week and there is no charge for this event.

PROFILE OF A GRADUATE
The Pequannock Profile of a Graduate is a district-wide initiative that outlines the skills and qualities that our community expects students to develop in order to succeed in their future endeavors, whether in higher education, the workforce, military service, or other career paths. From time to time, the weekly newsletter will contain information on the different components. The first is communication:
Graduates communicate clearly and purposefully.
- Listen Actively - Asking clarifying questions, paraphrasing, and giving nonverbal signals to demonstrate understanding.
- Express Ideas Effectively - Using domain appropriate vocabulary to articulate a clear claim or vision in a concise, direct manner.
- Adapt Messages Across Audiences, Media, and Contexts - Understanding the needs of an audience, as well as identifying various communication methods. and their strengths and weaknesses.
POMPTONIAN LUNCH SERVICE INFORMATION REGARDING FOOD ALLERGIES
Please see the following documents if information regarding ordering food and food allergies during the school lunch service is needed. Outside of students with food allergies, there is no advance ordering for students.
FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH REMINDER
Any families that might benefit from free and reduced lunch are encouraged to check out the district’s website and consider applying. If you qualified last year, please be sure to apply again this year as the program requires annual updates. Also, some families might also qualify under the New Jersey Expanded Income Eligibility (NJEIE) program. Students will receive lunches identical to those of their peers and their information remains confidential.
