Week of Nov. 12th

Hello Duval Community!

Happy Veterans Day!

This week was a busy one at Duval, even if it was a short week! On Monday, our students voted for the name of our mascot. Our Duval Dolphin is now named Dash! On Wednesday, we opened our doors to families for Conferences. It was nice to see so many members of our community! Thank you all for your continued support for your students! We truly enjoy working with you! Also this week, the students learned about Veterans Day and what it means to be a Veteran. We concluded the week with an assembly to honor local Veterans along with our "gift" of gratitude through a silent recessional back into the building.

Continuing our theme of Gratitude, this week we are celebrating National Kindness Day on Wednesday. Along with a giant paper chain of Kindness, each of our Pods will wear a particular color, and we'll attempt a whole-school picture from up high. Ask your kids which Pod they are in. Eyes wear RED. Ears wear ORANGE or YELLOW. Fins wear GREEN. Tails wear BLUE.

Have a great week!

Dr. Marcus and Ms. Craig

Dismissal Changes

A couple of reminders/adjustments:

1- Except in rare emergencies, ALL dismissal changes MUST be announced to the classroom teacher with a physical note. Please do not rely on email or phone calls during the day to get the message to staff.

2- Beginning next week, we are going to stop any early dismissals after 3:10pm. With less than 5 minutes notice, and with the real need for the office to pay close attention to the safety of children leaving, we can not safely pull teachers and our admin assistant away from that task. Please plan accordingly. If folks do arrive at 3:10 or later, students will be called to come to the office when the bell rings at 3:15pm.

Dash the Dolphin!

Voting was a HUGE success! The students had fun going to the "voting booths" and submitting their ballots. They received "I Voted" stickers! The winner was announced on Wednesday! Our school mascot's name is.... DASH!
