A Message From Mrs. Carmody A Message From Mrs. Carmody

Hello, Fremont Families!

Fall is in full swing, and our students are settling into solid classroom routines. With the cooler morning temperatures, please ensure your child comes to school dressed in layers so they stay comfortable during outdoor recess.

Tip: Shift morning prep to the night before. Have your child lay out their clothes, pack their backpack, and place water bottles by the door before bed. Shifting these quick tasks to the evening eliminates morning stress and helps kids build independence and self-reliance.

Please see below for important parent pick-up safety reminders.

We hope you have a wonderful three day weekend!

Warmly,

Beth Carmody

Principal

Our cafeteria was transformed into a bustling little bistro as our MAP students stepped into the roles of "Little Chefs" for a very special Mo Willems Book Tasting! With chef hats on and favorite stories in hand, our young readers served up delicious discussions with family guests, diving into beloved characters, setting the stage with settings, and sharing what made their chosen books so special. Thank you to all the families who joined us in the cafeteria to celebrate our students' hard work and passion for reading!

Law Enforcement Intruder Drill - The Week of October 12th Law Enforcement Intruder Drill - The Week of October 12th

Student and staff safety is our primary concern at Fremont School District 79. We will be practicing our Law Enforcement intruder drill the week of October 12th at the Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle Schools. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. To learn more about the District's safety and security measures, please click here. For additional details, explore resources on the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), guidelines for PreK-2+, and the 5 actions, 5 minutes video for Intermediate and Middle School students. If you would like to have your child opt out of this drill, please contact me at bcarmody@fsd79.org.

Keep Safety First in the Drop-Off Line! Keep Safety First in the Drop-Off Line!

A friendly reminder to all families: please ensure all children remain securely buckled in their seats while in the school drop-off and pick-up lines.

We’ve noticed a recent trend of students leaning out of sunroofs while cars are moving in line. While it might feel like a fun way to start the morning, sudden stops, even at very low speeds, can easily lead to unexpected injuries.

To keep our drop-off line moving smoothly and, most importantly, safely:

  • Keep all kids buckled until your vehicle comes to a complete stop in the unloading zone.

  • Ensure heads, arms, and bodies stay inside the vehicle and sunroofs at all times.

  • Maintain focus and watch for staff and students walking nearby. No cell phones!

  • Please pull right up to the car in front of you so we can keep our line from backing up the parking lot access for our buses!

  • Adults need to stay in their vehicles! We want you safe as well!

Thank you for partnering with us to keep every single child safe from start to finish each day!

Extra Clothes Extra Clothes

We kindly ask all parents to send an extra, labeled set of seasonally appropriate clothing (including shirt, pants, underwear, and socks) to be kept at school, regardless of your student's grade level. Accidents, spills, or unexpected muddy activities can happen to students of any age, and having a spare set on hand allows us to quickly and comfortably resolve the situation without having to call home and disrupt your day. If the spare set is used, please remember to send in a replacement set the next day. Thank you for your cooperation!

Connected and Confident Connected and Confident

Our classroom communities are in full swing! Predictable morning and sleep routines build confidence and ensure students feel secure in their physical and emotional space each day.

  • Instructional Days: Please reserve family travel for district breaks. Missing consecutive days can create learning gaps and cause unnecessary stress.

  • Health Check: Children must remain home until they are symptom/fever-free for 24 hours without medication.

We are always better together when every student is present to share in our classroom growth!

The My Ride K-12 mobile app allows parents and guardians to stay connected with their student’s transportation schedule. Through the use of GPS technology, the app provides updates to the pick-up and drop-off times based on the bus location.

To learn how to download the app, create your account, and link your student’s information, please visit our Transportation webpage.

Student Pick-Up/Drop Off Student Pick-Up/Drop Off

Unless your child is a regularly scheduled pickup, you must email or call our building receptionist
Aura Perez Cruces at aperezcruces@fsd79.org or 847-837-0437 no later than 2:45 p.m.
*On Wednesdays, you must let us know by 2:15 p.m.

A friendly reminder about our drop-off and pick-up line ...

  • Please stay in your car when dropping off or picking up your student(s).
  • Please do not park in the parking lot and send your student(s) to the school. Stay in the drop-off line.
  • Please pull all the way forward in line when dropping off and picking up. Students exit the car on the sidewalk only.
  • If you arrive at school after 8:55 a.m., you must come into the school to sign your student in. Doors close at 8:55 a.m.
  • We have observed that parents often leave approximately 3–4 feet between their vehicles. Please close those gaps, when safe to do so, so more vehicles can move through the line, reduce congestion on Fremont Center Road, and help buses reach their assigned spots more promptly.
  • Please refer to our Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures for our specific guidelines.

School Lunches School Lunches
