This Week's Scouting Report This Week's Scouting Report

Thursday February 12, 2026 Thursday February 12, 2026

Good evening Glenwood families!

It’s hard to believe we are already more than halfway through the school year! Yesterday, we celebrated our 100th day of school! Our first graders marked the occasion with their annual celebration, wearing self-decorated outfits in bright colors to match their theme, “100 Days Brighter” and participating in a variety of fun, 100-themed activities.

As a reminder, this week includes a 12:20 PM early dismissal, except for PM kindergarten. I wish you and your families a wonderful Presidents’ Day weekend. School will be closed on Monday, so we hope you’re able to enjoy the warmer weather and some extra time together.

After the recent snowfall and frigid temperatures, our students were finally able to get outside for some fresh air and exercise. We temporarily transformed our newer lower rear parking lot into a play space so students could enjoy outdoor recess. A big thank you to our Facilities team for bringing in the heavy equipment to clear the blacktop. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to return to our regular recess area later this week.

We are also preparing for our Valentine’s Day celebrations over the next two days. We look forward to time filled with fun, kindness, and creating special Glenwood memories together. Thank you in advance to our many parent volunteers for helping make these classroom activities engaging and enjoyable for our students.

It's a busy time at Glenwood, so please check out all the happenings below!

Best,

Josh Rehak, Principal

Glenwood Olympics

Let the games begin! This week we kicked off the opening ceremonies of our Glenwood Olympics. Our GES mascot, Woody, kicked off the ceremonies by lighting the cauldron with the Olympic torch! Representatives of each classroom helped kickstart all the planned activities ahead!

Thank you to Mrs. Grace-Green and our student Olympic committee for their thoughtful planning of the many grade-level academic games that will take place over the next two weeks. We’re looking forward to some friendly competition and celebrating our participants and winners during the Closing Ceremonies at the end of next week. Be on the lookout for lots of pictures that we will be sharing as the Olympics unfold!

5th Grade News

Like the rest of Glenwood, the fifth graders have been enjoying the Glenwood Winter Olympics! They created paper airplanes, tested them, then competed to see whose airplanes could go the farthest. They have also competed in a social studies Kahoot and a writing competition to see who could improve the most in the amount of writing they could produce in 5 minutes. In our regularly scheduled content, fifth graders have been learning place value concepts related to decimals, reading Don Quixote, and writing an opinion essay.

Birthday Bash / 4000 PAWS earned!

Today we celebrated our February Birthday Bash! It was wonderful to see the excitement on our students’ faces as their classmates sang “Happy Birthday.”

The celebration also included our monthly PAWS drawings, recognizing students who earned PBIS tickets for being Ready, Respectful, and Responsible. Selected students were invited to the stage for a chance to spin the prize wheel—always a crowd favorite!

The fun didn’t stop there. As a reward for earning 4,000 PAWS schoolwide this year, students enjoyed lunches DJ’d by our very own Glenwood teachers. It was a fantastic day of celebration and school spirit!

Glenwood Read-A-Thon

It's time for the Glenwood Elementary PTG Read-A-Thon!

Our school Read-A-Thon begins on Monday February 23, 2026 and is sure to be a fun and exciting event!

We understand that your time is valuable. We also know that providing the best education for your child is important. That's why we are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free, and it should take less than 5 minutes of your time.

This account will serve as a hub for recording and monitoring your child's progress as a Reader in the event, and for you to share their Read-A-Thon message with friends and family. Activate your student's Reader account.

Thank you so much for your participation and support. Together, we can make this Read-A-Thon an amazing experience for our young readers!
