News and Notes from Ducketts Lane Administration
🩵Greetings DLES Families & Community Partners! 🩵
We had another fantastic week at Ducketts, and it certainly feels good to begin putting those very cold days behind us. We are looking forward to the warmer days ahead and all the energy that spring brings to our school community!
A quick reminder that Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. Please remember to set your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night before heading to bed. We don’t want anyone accidentally arriving late to school on Monday morning!
A special thank you to all of the adults who were able to join our second graders for their Author’s Reading. Your presence and support mean so much to our students, and we are grateful for the strong partnership between home and school.
We have many exciting events coming up this month, and our students are also working hard as we prepare for upcoming state assessments. This is an opportunity for them to showcase what they know, demonstrate how much they have grown, and highlight their readiness for the next grade level. We are so proud of their effort and perseverance.
Lastly, the Board of Education has voted to adjust the spring calendar to make up for recent snow days. Please note that school will now be in session on Monday, April 6th, and the last day of school is currently scheduled for June 18th.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are looking forward to a strong and successful spring season together!
🚨 Important Safety Reminder for Morning Drop-Off 🚨
For the safety of all our students, please do NOT drop children off on Ducketts Lane. This is extremely dangerous—other motorists are not expecting children to cross the street or cars to stop unexpectedly.
If you are driving your child to school in the morning, please follow all traffic laws and use the designated car loop. Keeping our students safe is everyone’s responsibility!
Attendance Matters at DLES!
🎉 Attendance Celebration! 🎉
Way to go, Ducketts! Last week, our average attendance was over 95%—what an amazing effort! 🌟
Let’s keep this momentum going as we work toward being the winning class and grade in our March Attendance Contest. Every day counts, so let’s show up, shine, and keep those numbers climbing!
March Attendance Contest
Our schoolwide attendance contest is off to a strong start! Other than lower attendance rates on Tuesday with the 2-hour delay, our students showed up this week! After week 1, the grade-level leaders are as follows:
Kindergarten - Ms. Zabransky's class
1st grade - Ms. Haley's class
2nd grade - Ms. Rafferty's class
3rd grade - Ms. Albright's and Ms. Schneider-Ratliff's classes
4th grade - Ms. Thomas's class
5th grade - Ms. Wigglesworth's class
The grade-level that is leading the school this week is 1st grade, with 96.7% attendance! They get an extra special shout-out for having perfect attendance on Wednesday!
Who will be ahead next week? Will these leaders remain at the top, or will others take the lead? You can support your class and grade by making sure your students are here unless they are sick!
