From Principal Hodges
Dear K-5 Crew,
Welcome back to the second semester! I hope your break was filled with rest, joy, and time to recharge, because now, it’s time to get to work—and I mean ALL IN.
This semester is critical. The urgency of our mission has never been greater, and the stakes have never been higher. Every lesson, every strategy, every interaction is an opportunity to change a scholar’s trajectory. The work ahead isn’t just about meeting benchmarks—it’s about shaping futures, closing gaps, and proving that Centennial Academy is home to the BEST instruction in Atlanta.
And let me be clear: I NEED YOU.
I need you to show up every single day with energy, focus, and the determination to deliver excellence. I need you to pour your heart and your expertise into every scholar who walks through our doors. I need you to believe—wholeheartedly—that together, we have what it takes to move mountains.
This isn’t just about working harder; it’s about working smarter. Lean into collaboration. Use data to guide your moves. Be intentional with your time, your lessons, and your relationships. The strength of our crew lies in our collective efficacy—when we work as one, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
This is our year to accelerate. Let’s push forward with the same fire and commitment we started with in August. Let’s make Centennial a place where scholars and educators alike rise to new heights.
As always, my door is open to any and all questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions. This is a collective effort and I'm open to all ideas! We’ve got this because we’ve got each other. Let’s finish strong and show this city what excellence looks like.
With gratitude and urgency,
Principal Hodges
From our Awards Day Crew...
Instructions for Awards Day Criteria Submission (PLEASE READ):
Teachers, please carefully follow these instructions to ensure Awards Day runs smoothly and accurately:
1. Use Semester 1 Final Grades
- Base all awards on final grades from the end of Semester 1.
- Ensure awards criteria align with scholar performance (e.g., a scholar performing below grade level should not qualify for A/B Honor Roll). Awards must reflect actual performance.
2. Accuracy is Non-Negotiable
- Double-check scholar names for correct spelling. Certificates are printed directly from your submissions, so errors cannot be fixed later.
- Only include scholars who truly meet the awards criteria. Please read the new requirements for awards as a few have changed!
3. Adhere to the Deadline
- All completed awards criteria must be submitted by Wednesday, January 8th.
- No additional awards or certificates will be ordered or printed after this date due to omissions, errors, or late submissions.
4. Final Checks Before Submission
- Review your list for accuracy:
- Ensure scholar names are spelled correctly.
- Verify that awards align with their actual performance.
- Take time to review your submission before turning it in. Mistakes cannot be corrected after certificates are printed.
5. Submission Format
- Use the provided template for submitting scholar names and awards.
- Submit your list to the designated folder by the deadline. ONE form per grade level please.
***Admin will pull MAP Growth and Perfect Attendance Awards
