Cahaba Celebrates Reading Superstars
Cahaba was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated the conclusion of our Accelerated Reader (AR) Challenge! Over the past few weeks, students across all grade levels have been diving into books and pushing their literacy skills to new heights. For our K-2 students, the challenge was all about teamwork, as classes worked together to hit impressive word-count milestones. Meanwhile, our 3-5 students took on the mantle of individual achievement, setting personal goals to read as many words as possible.
To honor all that hard work, we turned the school track into a field of fun! Students who met their goals earned a high-energy celebration featuring a mega bouncy house and a massive inflatable obstacle course. The air was filled with laughter and cheers as students raced through tunnels and bounced their way to a well-deserved break. This event was a fantastic way to celebrate student effort and prove that reaching your goals leads to some pretty incredible rewards. Way to go, readers!
Congratulations to the HTMS Students of the Month for March! These students were nominated for their exemplary behavior, dedication to academics, demonstrating leadership qualities, and having a positive attitude.
Congratulations to the following students:
6th grade: TJ Appleberry and Harper McLaughlin
7th grade: Hudson Melton and Cooper Jackson
8th grade: Amy Yu and Shamar Chamblee
Learning at Full Speed
The HTHS AP Physics and AP Calculus students traded their desks for roller coasters on Tuesday, April 7th, heading to Six Flags Over Georgia to put Newton's laws to the ultimate test! From the stomach-dropping launches of Superman to the twisting forces of Pandemonium, students didn't just study acceleration — they felt it firsthand. Goliath proved to be a fan favorite for experiencing some of the most intense g-forces of the day. It's one thing to solve for acceleration on paper, but quite another to feel it at full speed! Thinking about turning physics into an adventure? Don't miss out next year — sign up for one of the AP Physics or AP Calculus courses at HTHS and see where the math takes you!

They are also invited to attend the Third Annual Father Goose Poetry Festival for Kids where they will read their poems aloud.
Biomes in a Box: Second Grade Scientists Shine
Paine Elementary’s second grade students brought science to life through hands-on learning and creativity! Students designed and built shoebox biomes to represent different habitats, showcasing their understanding of plants, animals, and environments. They also created digital presentations using Canva to share their research in a clear and engaging way.
To top it off, students presented their projects to kindergarten classes—building confidence while inspiring younger learners through student-led teaching.
Their hard work, creativity, and pride in sharing their learning were on full display!
