Dear Falcon Families,

Thank you for attending our annual Back to School Night last Thursday. It was wonderful to see so many parents attend our sessions to learn all about the year ahead.

As a reminder, spirit wear is on sale now and sales will close on September 4th. Here is a quick link. See the flyer below for a QR code as well. There will not be spirit wear for sale on hand at events. You must purchase through the link.

Our Fern Drive Foundation is looking for volunteers for our inaugural Falcon Dash. This fundraiser will be in place of the APEX fundraiser that we have done previously. Our Foundation will be hosting the Falcon Dash and all funds raised will go directly back to Fern Drive. To make this a success, we will need a good number of volunteers for planning, reaching out for sponsorships, etc. If you are interested in getting involved to help make this a success, please reach out to our Foundation President Kristen Jones at Ferndrivefoundation@gmail.com. Students in grades 4-6 can choose to participate on our Speech & Debate team this year. Mrs. Kim will once again be our coach and we are excited to see our students lead and compete! Mrs. Kim will be visiting classrooms to share more about this opportunity.

FSD is excited to launch the 2025–2026 Speech and Debate program! Our teacher coach for this year is Mrs. Kim. If your child is in grades 4–6 and is interested in joining our team, please mark your calendars for the following dates:

• Monday, August 18, at 5:00 PM – The Speech and Debate program interest form will go live at bit.ly/gospeech2025.

• Monday, August 25, at 5:00 PM – There will be a Parent/Caregiver Informational Session to give you more details about the program. The meeting will be recorded for those unable to attend live, and Spanish and Korean translation will be available. View the flyer here: bit.ly/SDwebinarflyer.

Attendance is key in student achievement and success at school.

Thank you for ensuring your Falcon attends school on time every day that they are healthy.

If your child will be absent, please use this google form to clear their absence. You may also call the school attendance line to clear an absence. Independent Study MUST be requested on THE DAY of the absence. For vacations, parents must request Independent Study TWO weeks before the absence.

Each week we hold a raffle for class attendance. Each day, if the class has 100% attendance, the teacher sends a raffle coupon up to the office. On Friday's we draw a primary and upper grade class winner. The winning class receives 3 class Gotcha's, a 10 minute extra recess and has the Falcon mascot in their room for the week.

Falcons in grades 3-6 can attend an informational meeting this Friday at lunch in Mrs. Price's classroom.

Lunch and breakfast will continue to be free for all students daily. We will still do a lunch count daily so please discuss with your student the importance to take a correct lunch count. Some students bring a lunch to school and then at lunchtime go get a school lunch. This results in some lunch shortages of the choice meal that day. Lunch options are still available and all children will be fed but often when this happens, the "lunch of the day" runs out. Please review with students the importance of this an accurate lunch count.

• You can drop off meds anytime starting now between 9 AM - 2 PM through the first day of school.
• You will need the IHP form - linked here

A reminder, if your child will need crutches or a cast and/or splint to begin the year, or any time during the year, please fill out this form and bring your child by the office to check in. We will need to ensure their safety prior to entering campus.
