Murray Elementary School
A Great Place to Grow
August 2025
A note from Ms. Eckerle & Mr. Hobson
It’s been a busy summer with all the exciting new construction in the building! Thanks to the hard work of our custodial team, office staff, and many departments across the school division, we’re thrilled to welcome families into our refreshed space—including newly renovated bathrooms and five updated classrooms. We’re hopeful that the last bit of dust will settle soon so everything can truly shine.
Mark your calendars:
🔹 Parent Portal opens on August 8 at 4:00 PM. You’ll be able to see who your child’s teacher is for the upcoming year. A great deal of thought goes into creating balanced classrooms to ensure every student has the best possible start.
🔹 Open House is Monday, August 11 from 4:00–5:30 PM. We can’t wait to see all the smiling faces walking through our doors!
We’re looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!

Welcome Back to School Health Checklist
Dear Parents,
Welcome back! I hope you and your family had a restful and joyful summer. I’m so excited to welcome your little ones back to school.
As we get ready for a new school year together, I would like to share a few important health-related reminders to help us keep your child safe, healthy, and ready to learn:
Rescue Medications & Action Plans
If your child has a medical condition that requires rescue medication (like an inhaler or EpiPen), please be sure to provide an updated action plan at the start of the school year. Medications must be brought directly to the school nurse by a parent or guardian, in their original pharmacy-labeled packaging.
Prescribed Medications During School Hours
If your child needs to take prescribed medication during the school day, a medication authorization form (available [here]) must be signed by their healthcare provider. Medications must be brought directly to the school nurse by a parent or guardian, in their original pharmacy-labeled packaging.
Over-the-Counter Medications
If you would like your child to have access to over-the-counter medications (like Tylenol or Motrin) during the school day, please provide a signed permission form (available [here]) along with no more than a 30-day supply of the medication. Both items should be submitted by a parent or guardian.
Thank you so much for your continued partnership and support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.
Warmly,
Johanna Bosen, BSN
School Nurse
Help Fight Back to School Germs
Donate Today
Murray will be hosting a school wide Germ Buster Donation Drive through the month of August. Starting Aug. 11, during open house, you may drop off disinfecting wipes, tissues, and/or hand sanitizer to the donation bins located in the front lobby. All items will be used throughout our school to help with the spread of germs. We appreciate any donation to our drive. Thanks for making Murray “A Great Place to Grow”!
Event Information
We invite you to join us on Monday, August 11th, between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. for a chance to meet your teacher, greet your bus driver, and connect with classmates. The PTO will be outside with popsicles for everyone to enjoy!
Class and bus assignments will be available in PowerSchool on Friday, August 8th, at 4:00 p.m. New families will receive their PowerSchool login information prior to that date.
Murray School Supply Fund Information 2025-2026
Dear Murray Families,
We hope you’re having a wonderful summer. We’re excited to welcome you to a brand-new school year on August 13th!
Murray’s PTO is committed to supporting our students, teachers, and families. To help make the start of the year easier for everyone, the PTO will be purchasing the classroom supplies needed for students in kindergarten through 5th grade this year.
Grades K-5
We kindly ask families of children in grades K-5 to contribute $40 per student (electronic payment via PT Board, cash, or check made payable to Murray PTO). These funds will go directly toward ensuring that every student has the supplies they need to succeed all year long—things like pencils, folders, markers, glue, headphones, and more.
In addition, we are asking 5th graders to personalize their learning by bringing the following items:
· 2” zippered binder
· Zippered pencil pouch
· Simple 4-function calculator
There are 3 easy ways to contribute to the School Supply Fund:
1. Pay online via PT Board, Murray PTO’s one-stop shop for PTO happenings.
2. Pay via cash or check (made payable to Murray PTO) at Open House (Monday, August 11 from 4-5:30 p.m.)
3. Pay via cash or check (made payable to Murray PTO) to your child’s classroom teacher or Carla Dodson in the front office.
On September 30, we’ll calculate the total money contributed to the School Supply Fund and divide it proportionally among the 14 classroom teachers. We’ll notify each teacher of the additional amount they have to spend (for more information about classroom funding, check out the link on PT Board).
Thank you for your continued support of the Murray community and for helping ensure that each student has the materials they need to succeed. We’re looking forward to a great year together!
Warmly,
Your 2025-26 PTO Executive Council Officers
Kara de Carvalho, President
Beth Bollwerk, Vice President
Alec Lorenzoni, Treasurer
