All about school counseling at the ELC
Meet the Wellness Center Team!
Hello! I’m Miss Taylor Louie, and I’m thrilled to be the school counselor here at the Early Learning Center. My role is to support students in their academic, emotional, and social development, helping them navigate the challenges of school and life with confidence and resilience.
I’m passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels heard and supported. Whether it's helping with academic planning, providing guidance on personal issues, or facilitating group counseling sessions, my goal is to empower students to reach their full potential.
If you or your child ever need someone to talk to, whether it's about school, friendships, or anything else, I’m here to listen and help. Feel free to reach out to me via email at tlouie@hobart.k12.in.us and let’s work together to ensure a positive and successful school experience!
Looking forward to a great year ahead!
Hello! I’m Ryan Williams, and I’m in my second year as the Behavior Interventionist at the Early Learning Center. My role is to support students in managing their behavior while promoting social and emotional growth through personalized strategies that foster meaningful opportunities for development.
Before stepping into this role, I taught middle school math for 17 years. I earned my master’s degree in School Counseling and am excited to serve the Hobart community in this new capacity. Having been a Brickie myself since kindergarten, I’m passionate about helping our young Brickies grow and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
If you’d like to discuss how we can partner together to support your child’s continued growth, I’d love to be part of that journey. Feel free to contact me at rwilliams@hobart.k12.in.us or 219-942-7263 ext. 8822.
Thank you, and I look forward to the great year ahead!
Meet Mrs. Ortiz!
Hello ELC Family,
I’m Mrs Guadalupe Ortiz the Reset Supervisor! I work closely with the counselor, Miss Louie, and the behavioral specialist, Mr Williams, to ensure emotional and behavioral self-regulation.
My goal is to help students return to a state where they are ready to engage positively and learn. Some examples: guiding calm down techniques, managing transitions, offering supportive emotional and proper behavioral regulation, and collaborating with teachers.
I enjoy the challenge of helping children transition back to a calm, focused state after periods of emotional and behavioral stress. The happiness I feel when I see the progress and success throughout the year makes me love my role as a Reset Supervisor!
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s learning journey!

Red Ribbon Week
What is Red Ribbon Week?
We’re excited to share that our school will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week in October! This important week promotes healthy, drug-free choices for our children. Red Ribbon Week is a nationwide campaign that encourages children to stay drug-free and to make positive choices in their lives. It’s a wonderful opportunity to talk to our little ones about the importance of being healthy and safe.
How You Can Participate: Here are some simple ways you can support this initiative at home:
Talk About Healthy Choices: Discuss what it means to be healthy and drug-free. Encourage your child to think about their choices and how they can take care of their bodies.
Share Positive Role Models: Talk about people in your life or in the community who make good choices and inspire others. This could be family members, friends, or even characters from books and movies.
Create a Family Pledge: Together, create a pledge as a family to make healthy choices. Write it down and display it somewhere special at home.
Read Books About Healthy Living: Choose age-appropriate books that focus on health, making good choices, and being drug-free.
We appreciate your support in fostering a healthy mindset in our young learners. Let’s continue to work together to help our children understand the value of making safe and positive choices!
Thank you for being a vital part of our school community.
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or need anything. I am here to help!
Take care,
Taylor Louie
