The boys and girls were absolutely blown away when Santa made time in his very busy schedule to visit them here in Dangan this morning. A huge thank you to Garda Edel for escorting Santa to the school in her Garda car — it certainly made for a wonderful entrance! The boys and girls were out in the yard to give him a very warm Dangan welcome.

The Parents’ Association worked tirelessly yesterday evening to prepare the hall, and we are extremely grateful to all of them. A special mention must be made to Gemma Murphy for her creativity — the hall looked absolutely amazing today for Santa and the boys and girls. On his arrival, Santa made his first stop in Mrs Prendergast’s class to say hello to the boys and girls there, who were delighted and very excited to see him. It was a truly memorable visit for everyone involved.

The school flu vaccinations will take place tomorrow Thursday, 18th December. If you have already given consent for your child to receive the flu nasal vaccine but now wish to withdraw that consent, please email the school office as soon as possible so this can be updated. The school office email address can be found below.

A big thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and extended family members who came along to our Christmas plays on Monday and Tuesday this week. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces, and this time of year is always such a special one for our school community. We would also like to sincerely thank everyone who donated so generously to St Vincent de Paul as they arrived to enjoy the performances, your kindness and support are very much appreciated.

The children from every class did an amazing job and should be so proud of themselves. Their confidence, enthusiasm, and excitement really shone through, and each class brought something different and special to their performance. It was a joy to watch how much they enjoyed performing.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to the class teachers for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make events like this run so smoothly. All the preparation was truly worthwhile to see the children enjoying themselves so much.

Photos from the performances can be viewed on each of the class pages on the school website www.dangannationalschool.ie

Well done to the boys and girls teams on their fantastic win in their Peader Lehane finals on Friday. The boys won all of their games in the competition and were deserving winners in the final. The girls also won all of their games and they had a nail biting finish to their final where they won by 1 point. Many thanks to Mr. Battersby in Boardsmill NS for all of his work in organising the competition, for supplying treats to the players and for refereeing both finals on the day.

Both teams were treated to a lovely pizza party for their efforts and success in the competitions. A huge thank you to the parents of Ruadhán, Lillian and Maeve for the very kind and generous sponsorship of pizzas for the teams. More photos from the day can be seen on the school website here.

A huge thank you to our parents, staff, and especially our wonderful children for making 2025 and this school year such a happy and positive time in Dangan. We are incredibly lucky to have such fantastic children, and a dedicated team of teachers and staff who work so hard every day to ensure the school is a welcoming, supportive, and happy place to be. A special thank you to our amazing staff — we truly are very lucky to have you.

On behalf of all the staff and myself, I would like to wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and a joyful New Year.
