First Day of School is Wednesday, August 5

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 5 from 7:45am-12:10pm for all students (After School Think Together Program is open if your child is enrolled and you have received confirmation from Think Together). Gates open at 7:20am daily.

Check your ParentVue account before the first day so you know your child's teacher. Click on "Class Schedule" and then "Trimester 1."

On the first day of school...

TK-K parents can wait with students on the Kindergarten playground until the first bell rings and the teacher picks up the students on the playground.
Grade 1 parents can wait with students next to the office on the grass in the courtyard until the first bell rings and the teacher picks up the students.
Grade 2-3 parents will drop students off at the front gate. Students can play on the playground and then staff will help each of them find their class when the bell rings.
Grade 4-5 parents will drop students off at the back gate. Students can play on the playground and then staff will help each of them find their class when the bell rings. 4th-5th grade students with siblings can enter the front gate with their younger sibling.
Nuntasiri, Kipoka, McQuown, & Scott classroom students will meet their teacher at the bus port area.

Grades 4 - 5 will pick up and drop off in the back (4th/5th graders with siblings can be dropped off or picked up with Gr. TK-3 sibling in the front).

We use the ParentSquare App to communicate with our families!

Please make sure you have the ParentSquare app downloaded and have an account. ParentSquare is how you will stay in contact with your child's teacher as well as get all communication from our school! Use your information that our school office has on file to create your account and it should automatically connect you with our school. If you have any trouble, please watch the tutorial video below or call or email our office.

How do I know who my child's teacher is this year?

Lunch & Breakfast

Breakfast will be served daily before school (7:20am-7:35am).
If a student misses the breakfast window before school, they can have second chance breakfast at morning recess.
Students may bring a snack or lunch with them to school. Water bottles are encouraged, but not required.
Breakfast/lunch will be provided to all students at no cost.

Your child may not be placed in a class unless you complete online registration (OLR/annual verification)!

Go to https://www.psusd.us/parentvue or the NEW ParentVue App (make sure you have a ParentVue account before starting).

Instructions for connecting with Palm Springs USD through new app:

Open the ParentVUE app on or after Monday, July 20th.
Search for the district by entering the zip code 92264.
Select Palm Springs Unified School District from the list to link your app to the new secure cloud server.

If you believe you have already completed OLR, you can check by logging into ParentVue.
Follow these steps to complete online registration (OLR-annual verification) to update your child's emergency card for the 2026-27 school year. All paperwork is online!
Complete online registration separately for each student.
After you register your child, use the ParentVue app to see your child's 2026-27 teacher before school starts. This information will be available in the ParentVue app starting after 4pm on Monday, August 3rd. We do not post class lists.

Back to School Night is Tuesday, August 4

We are hosting BTSN before school begins to make the transition to school easier for our students and families. Join us the evening before school starts to see your child's classroom, meet the teacher, and check out our campus! Note there are different times per grade level. Pick one session to attend. Students are encouraged to attend with their family! Click here for the campus map.

PTA will be selling school spirit shirts ($15). Cash (preferred) and Zelle will be accepted.

Think Together (After School Program)

Think Together offers Rio Vista's after-school program every school day from when school is dismissed until 6pm. For more information/to apply, please click here.
