Warhawk Culture

As we move through the school year, I’ve been doing some reflecting on where we are as a school community. Lately, I’ve found myself searching for “what’s next” for us—something new or different to keep growing. But after a great conversation with a colleague, I was reminded that we don’t necessarily need something new. What we really need is to keep getting better at what we already do so well.

At Westerville Central, our foundation has always been built on The R Factor and our Warhawk Blueprint—the ideas and behaviors that guide who we are and how we respond to the events around us. As Tim Kight reminds us, culture and leadership are not destinations; they’re ongoing journeys. The goal is simple: be better today than yesterday, and better tomorrow than today.

I want to challenge all of us—students, families, and staff—to continue practicing the R Factor system when life’s events happen. Let’s use the E + R = O formula (Event + Response = Outcome) to help us respond to challenges and opportunities with intention, purpose, and skill. When we choose our responses carefully and align them with our Warhawk Blueprint, we continue to strengthen and protect the incredible culture we’ve built together at WCHS.

If you’d like a refresher or haven’t seen it before, I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch The R Factor Overview by Tim Kight. It’s a great reminder of why our mindset and our responses matter so much—both in school and in life.

I’m proud and grateful for the way our Warhawk community continues to support one another, grow together, and live out the values that make us stronger every day.

WINGS UP !

Mrs. Sayre

Principal

Our Warhawk Blueprint outlines what we believe, how we behave and outcomes we hope to achieve together at WCHS. These beliefs are our guidepost that provide alignment in all we do.

School Clinic

Happy Fall Warhawk Families!

‘Tis the (cold and flu) Season…

Is your child not feeling their best? When they’re sick, the best way to recover -and protect others- is to rest at home. Students can return to school once fever free for 24 hours and symptoms have improved. Our school clinics follow all Ohio Department of Health guidelines to help manage and prevent the spread of illnesses and communicable diseases. Please let me know if your child is diagnosed with any contagious condition. We report these to our local health departments in accordance with public health requirements.

If your student becomes ill at school…

Please remind your student to check in with the clinic if they are not feeling well. We will evaluate their symptoms and then notify you directly if needed. Take a moment to review your child’s emergency contacts listed in Powerschool and make sure it is up to date. This allows someone other than you to pick up your child if you are not able to. If you need to add anyone to the list or make any changes, contact our guidance secretary, Carrie Shaffer, at shafferc@westerville.k12.oh.us.

Parents of Juniors:

Please start planning to get your student the REQUIRED Meningitis MCV4 booster before their senior year next fall. These can be done at your child’s annual well visit, local health departments, pharmacies, or health clinics. I am happy to help with scheduling if needed!

Additional resources and additional immunization information can be found on our district Health Services page. I appreciate your support with keeping our students healthy!
