Dear Kegonsa Families,

Happy National Public Works Week! A big thank you to the Stoughton Department of Public Works for visiting us and sharing their expertise—and some very cool equipment—with our students. We appreciate your time and dedication to keeping our community running smoothly!

Just a quick reminder that there is no school tomorrow, May 23, and no school Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. We’re deeply grateful for all who have served and continue to serve our country.

This week started off a bit chilly and gray, but we’re looking forward to warmer weather in the 60s by the weekend!

As the school year winds down, a few quick notes:

  • If your student brought a bike for the PE unit, please make sure to pick it up soon.

  • Fourth grade has a field trip coming up next week.

  • Field Day is June 6! Families are invited to join us for a picnic lunch, and if you're able to help out, please check out the volunteer opportunities for the day.

Are you a family who has a book that you ask teachers to sign for your child each year? If so - send them now! Please don't wait until the last day of school. That day is so short and filled with changes in routine. Sending the book now will ensure you get a well-written, thoughtful note that isn't rushed 💗

Our students have done lots of performing in the past month! 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and Kindergarten had amazing concerts! In addition, 3rd Grade performed at this year’s Syttende Mai Festival Opening Ceremony! 5th Grade is working hard to prepare for their concert.

We’ve also had some fun projects that students have been working on! 2nd Grade just finished their Composition Project and 4th Grade is working on their Rap Projects and will be performing them next week! Pictured below are 2nd and 4th graders working on their projects.

3rd and 1st Grade are learning about Form and different types and Kindergarten is working on Meter and different types.

As we get to the end of the year, I think back to when I first started my placement at Kegonsa and the relationships that I have built with these amazing students! It has been such a fun time and I have learned so much about these students and about teaching. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. It has been a wonderful time here and I can’t wait to see how the end of the year plays out! - Ms. Eichenberg

What is the Shining Gilly Award?

The Shining Gilly Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to show exceptional care for others or our school. These students exemplify the qualities we strive to nurture in all of our little citizens—kindness, responsibility, and a positive impact on their community. Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.

Congratulations to Grayson (4th), Quinn (5th), and Wyatt (5th)!
