Hello Nash Families,

Although it was a brief week, it was packed with learning and fun. We are diligently engaging in our classroom activities. Students are honing their skills in expressing their thoughts and focusing on their writing. In music class, they are rehearsing a new school song that I bet they're singing at home. Looking forward to another wonderful week at Nash.

Hope you had a great weekend!

A Fact About Chronic Absenteeism

  • Academic Consequences: A range of studies show school absences negatively impact academic outcomes. Frequent kindergarten absences correlate with lower cognitive skills in early childhood and poorer academic performance at age 15. Consistent absences from kindergarten through 8th grade decrease the chances of pursuing higher education, for example, missing 10 classes in 9th grade reduces college attendance likelihood by 2%.
  • This discovery prompted an examination of how attendance impacts overall academic performance. The evidence consistently shows that chronically absent students are more likely to: score lower on standardized tests, perform poorly in overall academic achievement, and face suspension in middle school. Back Pack Program with Weymouth Food Pantry

To ensure students have access to

food over the weekend...

Teachers and staff will pack a food bag for participating

students and place it in their locker on Friday morning.

Bags include items such as juice boxes, granola bars,

mac & cheese cups, goldfish crackers, and milk. The

menu will vary weekly. Children can pick up their

backpack bag when they leave school on Friday. These

bags are free, open to all students, and sponsored by

the Weymouth Food Pantry.
