Reading Olympics
On Wednesday, April 9th a team of scholars from Log College Middle School competed in the Bucks County Reading Olympics. Nearly 250-teams comprising of 4,000 students participated throughout the county. It was a rigorous quiz bowl; testing the students' abilities to recall facts from twenty-five books, which were read during the school year.
A loud round of applause and congratulations was earned by the Log College team as they earned the top score of the competition, an astounding 64-points. That mark indicates how well the students prepared for the event and the time they devoted to reading.
Of special note, the moderators and judges were sure to remark upon the fine sportsmanship and composure of the group, The students represented themselves and their school with grace and consideration. Our entire CSD community is proud of what these students accomplished.
End of Year Events
With just two months remaining, a number of things will happen....and fast! Click the link below to keep track of some of our larger events as we enter the final quarter of the school year.
Spring Sports Schedule Now Available
Track and Field
Log College’s track team has once again experienced a large turnout as the season gets underway! Log traditionally has a strong team with up to 120 students in 7th and 8th grade joining each year. Coaches McManus, Chase, Quinn, and Trodden work the students hard early on in the season, with each team member putting in around four miles of work at practices. This will prepare them to be competitive for the meets that begin at the end of April.
Log’s record last year was 8 wins and 3 losses. This was due to our athletes' commitment to be good in March, better in April, and at their best in May! Track is the only coed sport offered at the middle school level, and the boy's and girl’s scores are combined for a team score to determine the winner of a meet. The coaches need to have a balanced lineup to succeed regularly. The culminating meets of the season will be our yearly Log/Klinger meet and finally the Bucks County Championship, both at the end of May. We’re looking forward to a great and successful season!
Iron Athlete Award
Each year at our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, students who have participated on an LCMS athletic team for all six seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring for both 7th and 8th grade) earn an Iron Athlete Award. While our coaches have annual lists, we also survey students to ask them if they believe they have participated all six and are eligible. I'm posting this simply to let you know that this is one of our checks to avoid someone who has earned this award not receiving it at our ceremony. I encourage you to ask your son/daughter if he/she has filled out the survey if they have participated in all six.
Spring Games
Last week, LCMS students took a break and hosted its annual Spring Games. Students competed against one another (and even faced off against their teachers) for fun prizes. It was a great start to the weekend. Here are a few pics.
Centennial Vaccine Clinic
This provides free immunizations for our students that are eligible (no insurance, medicaid). At this time, the immunizations being provided are for ages 11 and up.
Reading is Fundamental
Put down the phone....pick up a book!
We ask that you please encourage your child to read at home! Not only is reading a great hobby, it helps children to become better learners and helps them focus. It is the single, greatest way your child can help him or herself. Plus, more and more, reading is becoming an expectation for our English classes.

Golden GOOSE
One of the things that we do as a part of our PBIS team/200 Club, is recognize teachers for their hard work and dedication to the students, but with a slight twist: We have the students nominate their teachers for recognition!
Students nominate their teacher for the Golden G.O.O.S.E. (Get Out of School Early) Award. The lucky teacher that is chosen receives a certificate where they can leave school a few minutes early on a day of their choice. This month, 8th grader Alex S. nominated his Math teacher Mrs. Murphy, and wrote a very nice narrative about all of the great things that Mrs. Murphy does for her students. Alex’s nomination was read on the Friday LCMS News broadcast, and then Mrs. Murphy was presented with her certificate afterwards. Congratulations to Mrs. Murphy, and thank you to Alex for your nomination!
Reading with Ms. Waldinger
Students in Academic Literacy courses have access to some new resources during the 2024-2025 school year. One of those new programs is Read Naturally Live. In Read Naturally Live, students are exposed to a variety of nonfiction topics and practice their oral reading fluency as well as expand their academic vocabulary as they strengthen their comprehension strategies on both a digital platform and in a traditional printed format.
