Greetings Feeney Families and Friends

At preschool we continue to build relationships, learn and integrate daily routines, and experience joy in our daily activities. There has been a focus on feelings and emotions through read alouds such as The Color Monster, Glad Monster/Sad Monster, and Elmer. We use the Zones of Regulation as a framework for understanding feelings and what "tools" we can use in each Zone. This is work that is embedded throughout the year. Below is a visual of the Zones that went home with your child this week.

The weekend ahead looks rainy but I hope you enjoy some quiet time at home with your family. Your children are working hard at school and no doubt they are tired as they continue to build their "school stamina" - the rainy weather may be just what is needed!

Thank you for your partnership, enjoy your weekend.

Julie

The Brain Architects Podcast: Building Resilience Through Play - Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University

The Brain Architects Podcast: Building Resilience Through Play - Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University

These days, resilience is needed more than ever, and one simple, underrecognized way of supporting healthy and resilient child development is as old as humanity itself: play. Far from frivolous, play contributes to sturdy brain architecture, the foundations of lifelong health, and the building blocks of resilience, yet its importance is often overlooked.
