September Newsletter
Clinton Elementary
From the Principal
Dear Clinton Street Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Clinton Street Elementary! I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with rest, fun, and time together. We are so excited to welcome your children back to school!
Our teachers, staff, and support team have been working hard to prepare our classrooms and hallways for a great year of learning. Clinton Street is lucky to have such a caring and dedicated staff who not only focus on each child’s individual needs but also value strong connections with our families. I truly feel fortunate to be part of such a special school community.
We encourage you to be an active part of your child’s school experience—whether that’s by joining our PTA, attending school events, or volunteering. Research shows that when families are involved in their child’s education, students thrive both academically and socially.
To keep our school safe, we kindly ask that all visitors present a photo ID and sign in at the main office before entering the building.
Please check your child’s backpack daily—especially in these first few weeks—for important forms that may need to be signed and returned, as well as information about upcoming activities and events.
If you ever have questions or need support, please reach out! You can contact your child’s teacher, call our main office at (716) 677-3621, or visit our school/district website at www.wscschools.org. My door is always open—I welcome you to call me directly at (716) 677-3623, email me at kmccartan@wscschools.org, or stop by for a visit.
We’re looking forward to an amazing year ahead with you and your child!
Warmly,
Kimberly M. McCartan
Principal

If you need to pick up your child during the school day, please call the office ahead of time or send in a note. This helps us make sure your child is ready and keeps the process running smoothly.
At the end of the school day, dismissal is one of our busiest and most important times. If we don’t receive advance notice that your child will be picked up, you may experience a short wait while we prepare your child for dismissal.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Our first priority is making sure every child leaves safely and with the right adult. By calling ahead or sending in a note, you help us make the process smoother for everyone. Thank you for partnering with us to keep dismissal safe and organized for all families.
Thank you for helping us keep pick-ups safe and organized!
🔐 Security & Visitor Guidelines
The safety of our students is our top priority, and we appreciate your support in helping us keep our schools secure.
When you visit during the school day:
Ring the bell, show your photo ID, and let us know why you are visiting.
You’ll enter through a secure entryway, where one of our office staff will scan your ID using the Raptor Visitor Management System.
This system is widely used in schools, hospitals, and child care centers across the country. It quickly checks your ID against the national sex offender registry. Please note that it does not give us access to driver’s license records or any other criminal records.
Starting this fall, all visitors—including parents, service providers, and contractors—will need to present a valid government-issued ID and be checked in through Raptor before entering the school during the day.
This process is not required for evening or community events such as concerts, plays, athletic games, or Open House.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe!
For end-of-day pick-up, please:
Remain in your car
Display your school-issued car tag in the windshield
If someone else will pick up your child, send written permission.
📚 Reading at Home
We are building strong, confident readers! Try to set aside nightly reading time:
🩺 Emergency Cards & Medical Forms
Please return all emergency cards and medical forms to Mrs. Zubler, our school nurse, as soon as possible.
Questions? Call (716) 677-3624.
💊 Medication at School
If your child needs medication during the school day:
Provide a doctor’s note with dosage and timing.
Bring medication in the original labeled container—an adult must deliver it to the Health Office.
Students may not carry medicine (including cough drops or inhalers) without authorization.
🥪 Breakfast & Lunch
Free for all students during the 2025–2026 school year.
Second meals and snacks must be purchased at the time of service.
🚌 Transportation Tips
Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes early.
During the first two weeks, times may vary as drivers and students adjust to new routes.
Thank you for your patience!
