Skyward Access

As we communicated on August 11, Aledo ISD is transitioning to Skyward beginning this school year. As our district has continued to grow, we have outgrown the capabilities of our previous student information system, Ascender. Skyward is a trusted and widely used student information system utilized by school districts across Texas and the nation.

Skyward Family Access replaces the Ascender Parent Portal, providing parents and guardians with a convenient, secure way to stay connected to their child's attendance, schedules, grades, and more—all in one place. Please note that all student absence requests must also be submitted through Skyward Family Access beginning this school year.

Getting Started

Getting connected is easy!

  1. You should have received an email from no-reply@aledoisd.org on August 11th or 12th with the subject line "Family Access Account Information." This email will include your Skyward Family Access username and a link to create your password.

  2. Set your password by clicking the link in the email.

  3. Download the Skyward Mobile App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store using the links below.

    • Skyward for Android

    • Skyward for iPhone

    • You can also access from a PC using this link - https://bit.ly/AledoSkyward

  4. Create a 4-digit PIN if prompted. You may choose any 4-digit PIN you would like to use for quick access to the Skyward mobile app.

  5. When prompted to locate your organization, search for Aledo and select Aledo ISD from the search results.

  6. Enter an account description when prompted. This can be anything you'd like (for example, "Aledo ISD" or "Family Access") and is simply used to help identify your account within the app.

  7. Sign in to the app using your Skyward Family Access username (which is included in the email mentioned above) and the password you created.

  8. Click the green "Continue in App" button if prompted.

  9. You're all set! Once school begins, you'll be able to use Skyward Family Access to view your student's attendance, schedules, grades, assignments, and other important information throughout the school year.

Reporting Student Absences

Beginning this school year, parents and guardians will also use Skyward Family Access to submit student absence requests.

To submit an absence request:

  1. Select the student for whom you are requesting the absence.

  2. Tap the Attendance icon.

  3. Select the Absence Requests tab.

  4. Tap the green + Add Absence Request button.

  5. Enter the date(s) of the absence and provide the requested details.

  6. If applicable, attach supporting documentation, such as a doctor's note.

  7. Tap Save at the top of the screen to submit your request.

After you submit your request, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a link to the district's Attendance Matters website, where you can learn more about attendance procedures and documentation requirements.

If your student's healthcare provider determines that it is medically infeasible for your student to attend school for multiple consecutive days, please ask the provider to complete the Serious/Life-Threatening Medical Condition form and return it to your campus attendance clerk.

Lunch Visitors

We are excited to welcome lunch visitors back to Annetta Elementary beginning Monday, August 24!

To help ensure a safe, secure, and enjoyable experience for everyone, please keep the following reminders in mind:

  • You may only eat lunch with your own child.
  • Visitors must sit only at the designated visitor tables located at the back of the cafeteria.
  • Please do not bring food for other students.
  • Visitor restrooms are located in the front office.
  • All visitors must present a valid photo ID at the front entrance camera before being admitted to the building. Once inside, please check in at the front office, where our staff will scan your ID and provide you with a visitor badge. This badge must be worn and visible at all times while you are on campus.

These procedures help us maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all students and staff while allowing you to enjoy this special time with your child. Thank you for partnering with us to keep Annnetta Elementary a safe place for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at lunch!

Positivity Project (P2) - Other People Mindset

Dear Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the Other People Mindset. The Positivity Project (P2) aims to empower students to build positive relationships by understanding, appreciating, and exemplifying the character strengths in us all.

The Other People Mindset is a foundational concept within P2, teaching students that positive relationships are important – and that there are actions students can take to build positive relationships. Here are the five Other People Mindset elements:

  1. Identify and appreciate the good in other people

  2. Understand that your words and actions affect other people

  3. Cheer other people on when they succeed

  4. Support other people when they struggle

  5. Remain present and give other people your attention

While mental health is incredibly complex, we know that positive relationships can help people become happier, healthier, and more resilient. And, relationship-building skills are critical for leadership, collaboration, and effective communication – abilities that will be essential in future careers. The Positivity Project believes educators have a tremendous opportunity and vital role to play in teaching students that relationships are important to their health and success – and ways to actively build positive relationships in their lives.

To practice and encourage the Other People Mindset at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.
