Term 2 Week 10 Newsletter
NEWS FROM MRS MCCLUE
Dear Families,
As we near the end of Term 2, I wish to thank our parents for their ongoing support of our school. Today, as we celebrate our schools Feast Day, I reflect on the great privilege I have as Principal of OLGC. It is a joy to come to work each day and encounter our students and their families. I hope you all have a very restful and relaxing school holidays, and return renewed in Term 3.
Feast Day celebration
Today was a wonderful example of our school community coming together to recognise and celebrate the charism of our school. Thank you to Fr Bernard who celebrated mass with us this morning, led by our Year 1 students. Students have then rotated through 4 activities across the day, with each activity related to our school values of Love, Justice, Excellence and Respect.
Staffing
I wish to thank Mrs Jill Pollard whose final day with OLGC is tomorrow, Friday 21 June. Mrs Pollard will be enjoying an extended overseas holiday before exploring other options for her future. Mrs Pollard has shown a considerable dedication to our school during her time here, and has been a well-loved and respected member of our teaching team. Please join me in thanking Jill for her many contributions to our school and students.
Ms Annette Barron will be replacing Mrs Pollard as the Year 2 teacher from Term 3. Ms Barron is an experienced and engaging teacher who has worked across a range of schools in catholic education. She joins us from a Year 2 classroom at Holy Cross College, Ellenbrook. I am sure you will all make her feel very welcome.
Talk4Writing
Next week, our staff will be undertaking training in the Talk 4 Writing program. Talk 4 Writing is an evidence based writing framework, that builds students oral language, reading, grammar and writing skills. It is well known for providing students with a highly engaging learning experience, that significantly improves their writing skills and abilities. We will be utilising this writing framework as a whole-school approach from Term 3.
First Communion - Sunday 23 June
Please keep our year 4 students in your prayers, as they undertake the Sacrament of Holy Communion this Sunday. All families are welcome to attend the celebration at St Dominic's Parish from 9.30am.
Winter Carnival
Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 students who participated in the Winter Carnival last week. Both soccer teams demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and determination. Particular congratulations are extended to our Year 5 team, coached by Mr Gary Mills, who took out the First Place trophy!
Thank you also to Mrs Hesse, Miss Murphy and Mrs Pen for all the hard work on the day and in the lead up to the event.
Assistant Principal
Please note that Mrs Rebecca Barfoot will be on long service leave from 12 June until Week 2 of Term 3. In her absence, Mrs Maddie Ciullo is acting in the role of Assistant Principal. Should you need support from the Assistant Principal during this time, please contact maddie.ciullo@cewa.edu.au or contact admin to book a time to meet with Mrs Ciullo.
Many thanks,
Lisa McClue
Enrolments – Pre-Kindy and Kindy Program: 2025 and 2026
Please note that we have now reached full capacity for Kindy and Pre-Kindy 2025 and have commenced a waitlist for students. Places are also very limited for Kindy 2026.
If you have a younger sibling, friend or family member who will be seeking enrolment in our Pre-Kindy or Kindy program for 2025 or 2026 please contact the administration staff as soon as possible. These places are filling up very fast (with a waitlist already in place for Pre-Kindy and Kindy 2025) and we would hate for any siblings to miss out on enrolling.
Friends or family members that would like to see what OLGC can offer their child, should submit an EOI via our new website www.olgc.wa.edu.au or by contacting the office on 6242 3400 for an application, or to book a school tour.
NEWS FROM MRS BARFOOT
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION WORKSHOP
The recent First Holy Communion parent/child workshop was a resounding success, bringing together families in a spirit of faith, unity, and joyful anticipation. As parents and children gathered to prepare for this sacred sacrament, they experienced a profound sense of community and spiritual growth. The workshop provided a unique opportunity for parents and children to deepen their understanding of the significance of First Holy Communion and its place within the Catholic faith. Through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and meaningful reflections, families explored the beauty and mystery of the Eucharist together, forging deeper connections with one another and with God.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
The First Holy Communion Mass will be held this Sunday, June 23 at St. Dominic’s Church. Our Year 4 students have been diligently preparing for this sacred sacrament and as the day of their First Holy Communion draws near, we recognise that this sacred milestone marks a significant moment in your journey of faith, and we rejoice with you as you prepare to receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time. May you feel the presence of God's love surrounding you, guiding you, and filling your heart with peace and joy.
MID YEAR REPORTS – SEQTA ENGAGE
Mid Year Reports will be sent home via SEQTA on Tuesday 25th June. Our Lady of Good Counsel utilises the SEQTA Engage Parent Portal for parents to access reports for students in Kindy to Year 6 at the end of each semester. If you have not already done so, please log in to SEQTA Engage to ensure you are able to access your child's report. To do this you will need to access: https://olgc.coneqt-p.cathednet.wa.edu.au/ and use your current username and password.
If you know your username but have forgotten your password, please click on the "Forgot your Password?" link and an immediate email will be sent to you. The password reset link in the email will expire within one hour, so please action immediately. If you have forgotten both of these, then please contact the school office and we can remind you of your username.
If you are new to using SEQTA Engage you should have received an email to set up a login account. This email will expire within 7 days so please action this as soon as possible. If you have not received your sign-up email or have any issues, please contact the school.
EDU-DANCE
During Term 3, students from Pre Primary to Year 6 will participate in Edu Dance classes. To accommodate this, students are asked to wear their sports uniform (blue polo shirt) for an additional day on Wednesdays. Edu Dance focuses on physical fitness, dance confidence, teamwork and developing self-esteem in students. Mark your calendars for the end of term Edu Dance concert to be held at 2.15pm on Wednesday, September 11!

PARISH NEWS
Good afternoon fellow parishioners,
It has come to our attention that text messages have been received by some of us, seemingly from Fr Bernard or a parish priest, requesting financial assistance. These messages are fraudulent and are not from Fr or anyone in the Parish.
PLEASE IGNORE, BLOCK AND DELETE. DO NOT REPLY.
Fr Bernard would never request financial assistance in that way, so beware of communication especially via texts or emails that request money, other financial help, or any personal information from you.
If you are unsure or have a query regarding any parish communication please contact the sender directly, or send us an email so we can verify.
Kind Regards,
