Updates and Info from Dr. T
Farley Elementary School
One week completed (175 more days to go!)
I hope everyone had a great week! It's exciting too see so many new faces at Farley; we have somewhere around 80 students (counting PreK and K) that are new to our school, and I want to say "welcome" once again. We also have about 20 staff members that are either new or in different positions. I've listed below some helpful contact information.
Carline Updates: Thank you to everyone for displaying your carline numbers. We will send another set of hangtags home next week. In the morning, students may only be dropped off in carline. Please do not let students out in the parking lot to skip driving through carline. Parent walk-ups are not allowed past the first week unless your child has a special need. There is not supervision prior to 7:30AM and this is the earliest students should be dropped off for safety reasons.
CLASDOJO - make sure you join your teacher's ClassDojo. This is the easiest way to receive class updates from the teacher.
Quick plug for Joining PTA: Our PTA is a great resource and an easy way to stay connected. The dues are very affordable ($7) and we are always looking for volunteers in any capacity. ALSO - All Pro Dads was started last year and we look to increase our participation and see APD's positive influence throughout the school year.

Meet Ms. Laura Green Nelson (GATE)
Ms. Nelson joins us after one year in Decatur City. She is thrilled to be a Farley as our new Gifted Specialist.
The window for referrals for GATE is now open for students in grades 3-5 until September 30th.
This window is for intellectually gifted children and youth who perform or who have demonstrated the potential to perform at high levels in academic or creative fields when compared with others of their age, experience, or environment. These students require services not ordinarily provided by the regular school program. Gifted students can be found in all populations, across all economic strata, and in all areas of human endeavor.
Second Graders are screened through the entirety of the 25-26 school year.
Who can make a referral? Any one with knowledge of the child's potential (parents, teachers, themselves)
