AMS Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

I hope you are all enjoying the final weeks of summer vacation. I’ve been on vacation with my family this past week, where we enjoyed some quality time and fantastic beach days before beginning final preparations for the upcoming school year.

I wanted to send out the following reminders:

• Schedules will be released in iPass to your iParent account by 5:00 PM on August 21st.

• 6th Grade Orientation: August 22nd (Parent/guardian must attend with student). This event is not required but is highly recommended.

• Last names A-L: 4:00–5:00 PM

• Last names M-Z: 5:00–6:00 PM

• Optional 7th–8th Grade Locker Setup: August 23rd, 12:30–2:00 PM (Parent/guardian must attend with student).

• First Day of School: August 28th

After schedules are released, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact your student's school counselor.

Please keep in mind that while they will respond in a timely manner, requests to change schedules are often not possible. Teams and class schedules are created to balance a variety of needs, and changes can have a domino effect that cannot be accommodated.

Several families have informed me that they are unable to attend the 6th Grade Orientation or the optional 7th/8th Grade Locker Setup due to vacation plans. I will post the information shared during the 6th Grade Orientation on the AMS website afterward. Additionally, the building will be open from 3:00–4:30 PM on Monday, August 26th, for those who are unable to attend on the 22nd or 23rd but would like to set up their lockers and find their classrooms. A parent/guardian must attend with students during this time.

If your student is planning to play a fall sport and you have not already registered, please do so as soon as possible through this link and reach out to Athletic Director, Kevin Anderson with any questions.

I had great conversations with the parents/guardians who were able to attend my “Meet the Principal” event on the 8th. I look forward to meeting the rest of you and will be setting up more meeting opportunities throughout the school year to gather your feedback on AMS and your student's school experience. I will share more about my entry plan for my first year as Principal with everyone at Back-to-School Night:

• 6th Grade: September 18th, 6:00–8:00 PM

• 7th & 8th Grades: September 19th, 6:00–8:00 PM

I will send another update prior to the first day of school with reminders for the beginning of the school year.
