November 4 is a Digital Learning Day
November 4 is a Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students. On scheduled DLDs, students access lessons in Google Classroom through their Learning Space but do not have virtual class time with their teachers.
To ensure that students have a nutritious meal to fuel their learning, our bus drivers will be on the road and at every bus stop to deliver meals prepared by the School Nutrition Program staff.
Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 a.m. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route. These delivered meals are provided at no cost to families and are provided to anyone 18 years old and under.
November 6 is the Next Family Advisory Council Meeting
Our November Family Advisory Council meeting will take place on Thursday, November 6, from
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the New Mercies Church located at 4000 Five Forks Trickum Rd SW, Lilburn, GA, 30047.
As we work to make Family Advisory Council meetings easier for everyone to attend, we’ll be rotating locations so families from all parts of Gwinnett have a chance to join close to home. We will continue to update our website as locations are confirmed. We’re excited to bring these conversations into more neighborhoods and hope this change helps even more families share their ideas and feedback to strengthen our schools and community.
Please register if you plan to join us at New Mercies Church for our November 6 meeting and continue our shared conversations about how we can best support our students and schools.
Family and Community Resources
Family Literacy classes foster connection and growth
Stronger family bonds, navigation of daily life, reduced stress, and community integration are just some of the outcomes for school communities when they facilitate Family Literacy classes.
Sessions start with a welcoming environment where families feel comfortable while building a positive class culture and sense of community. Lessons also include practical daily conversations for families to use in everyday life. As participants gain language skills, families feel more comfortable sharing their ideas during school planning activities and engaging in meaningful communication with staff.
You can email your School Board members, individually or as a group; or contact the Coordinator of Board Services at 678-301-6040 or by email at MySchoolBoard@gcpsk12.org.
The next regular Board meeting is November 20. (Online, find links to sign up for the public comment sections of the meeting.)
