Enchiladas & Cheesecake Win Baking & Pastries Competition

Please help us congratulate the amazing student bakers who won the 2026 Baking and Pastries Competition: Emerson Kovanen and Samantha Ensminger! Alongside their mock business plans, Emerson presented a Rainier Fog Apple Glaze Cheesecake to the judges and Samantha presented Spicy Green Enchiladas.

Students in Mrs. McMahon’s Baking and Pastries class have spent the past month developing a business plan, menu, storefront design, and one singular dish to be judged by a panel made up of bakery and restaurant owners from our community members and WHS staff. The bakers in our community were blown away by everyone's creations. Making all of these fantastic dishes from scratch is no small feat!

FFA Poultry & Forestry Teams Attend State

🐓The FFA Poultry team traveled to Castle Rock for a long, challenging day with 10 rotations evaluating everything from laying hens and broilers, to RTC turkey carcasses, processed parts, and the interior/exterior of eggs. Congratulations to these competitors for taking 10th at state!

🌲 Our FFA Forestry team took 3rd at state this year, with two team members placing in the top 10 individually – Trenten Huntington (9th) and John Gutzwiler (10th). Congratulations on such a fantastic accomplishment!

Just before state, the forestry team competed against 9 other schools at the Stevens County Forestry Contest in Colville before spring break, where the WHS team took home 1st for the first time since 2019! Trenten took 2nd individually at that competition and John took 3rd.
