The Wellness class is a year-long course focusing on physical education, personal health, and digital citizenship & technology literacy. Students meet once a week, and engage in hands-on activities, group discussion, and personal reflection, all in an effort to help them make safe, healthy choices for their future well-being.

5th Grade - Mr. Flanagan 5th Grade - Mr. Flanagan

5th grade library classes are off to a terrific start! Building from our k-4 library program, students have responded well to class expectations, staying focused during direct instruction and learning time, taking care of borrowed books and materials, and engaging in different topics of inquiry. 5th grade library class will conclude around Halloween. Next up? Technology with Mr. Galle! Please reach out with any questions.

6th Grade - Mrs. Stetz 6th Grade - Mrs. Stetz

Sixth graders have learned how to do Hands Only CPR and how to use an AED. Ask your student how to know if someone might need CPR and what the steps are to providing these life saving actions. Do you know where the AED is at SATEC?

We have also focused on the importance of practicing consent in our every day lives. We have had guest speakers present about Hazing, Harassment, Bullying and Retaliation. The bottom line- Be kind to others in person and online.

7th Grade - Mrs. Giroux 7th Grade - Mrs. Giroux

Our 7th graders have been focusing on self-awareness, with a particular emphasis on understanding and identifying emotions. Students have been learning to recognize different emotions and notice how emotions can feel in their bodies—such as a racing heart when feeling anxious, tense muscles when frustrated, or a warm feeling when happy.

We are also learning that recognizing and naming our emotions is the first step toward managing them effectively. When students can identify what they are feeling and understand the signals their bodies are giving them, they can make more intentional choices about how to respond.

These skills are important for helping students develop self-awareness, self-management, and healthy ways of coping with everyday emotions and challenges.

8th Grade - Mr. Carter 8th Grade - Mr. Carter

Our 8th graders have been exploring the importance of a healthy breakfast, learning how to choose foods that provide sustained energy throughout the morning. In addition to studying the key components of MyPlate, students examined the concepts of "go, slow, and whoa" foods. They are currently practicing how to read nutrition labels and identify ultra-processed foods. To wrap up the unit, guest instructors visited to lead important discussions on hazing, harassment, bullying, and retaliation.

Hazing, Harassment, Bullying & Retaliation (HHBR) Review Hazing, Harassment, Bullying & Retaliation (HHBR) Review

Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade received a refresher on the school’s expectations and policies related to Hazing, Harassment, Bullying, and Retaliation (HHBR). The review focused on recognizing these behaviors, understanding their impact on others, knowing how to report concerns, and identifying trusted adults who can provide support. Students were reminded of the importance of treating others with respect and helping maintain a safe, inclusive school environment.
