There is a buzz in the building from the confluence of positive things: the MIAA tournament, Into the Woods gearing up for their debut, the option for students to not wear masks and see each other's smiles, and the upcoming SPEAK week to include Lydia the therapy dog :-) are all coming together during one of the longest stretches in the school year. Please see information on all of the great things happening, below.

MIAA Tournament Games

The Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Boys Ice Hockey teams have all advanced to the elite eight. Boys Basketball will play New Mission on Saturday, March 12th, at Watertown High School at 5:00pm. Boys Ice Hockey will play Grafton High School on Saturday, March 12th, at the John A. Ryan Arena at 8:00pm. Last but not least, the Cheerleaders have advanced to the state championship this Sunday, March 13th, at Worcester State. The team is expected to go on around 10:30am. We wish all of the teams the best of luck and appreciate how they have represented our school. Go Raiders!

Performances:

Thursday, March 17th 7:00pm

Friday, March 18th 7:00pm

Saturday, March 19th 7:00pm

All performances at WHS Centennial Auditorium

50 Columbia St, Watertown MA

Admission:

Watertown Students with school ID's: Free

Adults: $10

SPEAK Week - March 14th-18th

SPEAK Week, Sharing Personal Experiences and Knowledge, is hosted by the Watertown Youth͎ Coalition Peer Leaders, a program of Wayside Youth & Family Support Network. The theme of this year's SPEAK Week is “Strive to Thrive.” As part of the week, we have seminars on Mental Health Challenges and Recovery, resources on substance use prevention, and much more!

MIAA conference - march 14th

The MIAA has graciously invited our students to participate in an in-school conference to attend workshops focused on leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The conference is being held Monday, March 14th, and will include around 60 students from all different backgrounds and interests, not just student-athletes. We appreciate the MIAA's financial and time commitment to our community.

Returning after COVID

  • If you test positive for COVID and you are asymptomatic, you may come back on day six. The day you test positive for COVID is day 0. For example, if you get a positive test on Wednesday (day 0), you can return on the following Tuesday (day 6). See chart below.

  • If you are symptomatic and then you test positive, day 0 is the first day you start to develop symptoms.

  • If you test positive and develop symptoms AFTER your positive test, day 0 resets to the day you become symptomatic.

  • YOU CAN ONLY RETURN after 5 days of isolation if you were asymptomatic, OR if you are fever-free and your symptoms are resolving.
