Summer Enrichment Opportunities for CUSD #205 Students
This summer, Galesburg CUSD #205 is excited to partner with Camp Kidz, Carl Sandburg College, and Knox College to offer enriching opportunities for our students. With an emphasis on educational growth and exploration, we encourage families to take advantage of the scholarships available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Don't miss out on this chance for your child to experience new activities and gain valuable skills! Please note that transportation will not be provided by District #205. We look forward to an amazing summer filled with learning and fun!
Camp Kidz
District #205 will provide up to 30 scholarships for #205 students to attend Camp Kidz. Any CUSD #205 student ages 5-21 with a diagnosed disability is eligible to attend. Camp Kidz is a six week summer day camp that operates four days per week, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. This year camp starts on Monday, June 16, 2025 and ends on Thursday, July 31, 2025, with a break week of June 30 – July 3 to accommodate vacation and travel.
Those interested in attending should contact the Special Education Department for an application by phone at 309-973-2020 or by email dcratty@galesburg205.org.
Carl Sandburg Kids on Campus
District #205 will provide up to 100 scholarships for #205 students to attend Carl Sandburg College’s Kids on Campus Program this summer. Any CUSD #205 student entering grades 1-8 grade may attend from July 21-25, from 9 a.m. - Noon.

Knox College 4 Kids
District #205 will provide up to 300 scholarships for #205 students to attend Knox College’s College 4 Kids this summer, offering scholarships to approximately 36 students in each current grade, K-7. The camp runs from July 7-18th, 2025.
To learn more please click here. The registration deadline is June 7th, 2025. To take advantage of this opportunity, guardians must enter "C4KCUSD" in the "Event Code" portion of the registration.
Carl Sandburg College Dual Credit
District #205 will provide scholarships for available dual credit courses offered by Carl Sandburg College this summer for students entering grades 10-12. Students earning a passing grade in a dual credit course will receive both high school and college credit. Students can use the scholarship for a maximum of one course this summer. Students who are already registered and have paid may be reimbursed for costs. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, the steps for a student to take are as follows:
Apply to Carl Sandburg College at www.sandburg.edu/apply. (new students to CSC only need to apply).
Schedule to take the Accuplacer test. To sign up, go to www.sandburg.edu/accuplacer and then visit campus to take it. Note the student must score 247 or higher to take BIO 101, ENG 101 and PSY 101. All other courses require a score of 227 or higher. For the Math portion, a score of 256 or higher is required for college coursework unless high school courses or SAT/ACT scores waive this requirement.
The student should then schedule a meeting with their high school counselor to determine what classes best fit their needs, as well as complete the registration form.
CSC will then bill District #205 for the first 25 students to take advantage of this opportunity. Summer courses begin on Monday, May 19, 2025.

How do we grade at the elementary level? We use a standards-based report card instead of a report card with letter grades. Elementary report cards are issued at the end of each grading period. They are intended to give an evaluation of the scholastic achievement and work habits of each child. Parents should examine all cards carefully since each child is rated not only on academic progress, but also progress in development of social attitudes and work habits.
We use a 4,3,2,1 system to assess a student's mastery of standards.
4 = Exceeding State and District Standards
3 = Meeting State and District Standards
2 = Approaching State and District Standards
1 = Not Meeting State and District Standards
