Past Week Highlights
LIA celebrates Dia De Los Muertos
Our Latinos In Action (LIA) group proudly celebrated and educated our school community about Dia De Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. They created a beautiful and meaningful display by the bridge, honoring the tradition of remembering and celebrating loved ones who have passed. The display was filled with color, culture, and care, helping students learn more about this important holiday and its rich heritage.
NJHS Food Drive
Our National Junior Honor Society recently wrapped up a successful food drive to support our local food pantry. Students and staff came together to donate hundreds of canned and boxed food items, showing incredibly generosity and community spirit. Thanks to everyone's contributions, we'll help local families have access to the food they need. This project was a wonderful reminder of how our Warrior community makes a difference when we work together.
Martin Luther King Jr Speech Contest
Warriors rose to the challenge!
Students proudly stepped up to memorize and perform excerpts from the inspiring speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as part of our school-level speech contest. Participation was open to all, and the competition was incredibly close! We are thrilled to celebrate our top three winners:
🥇 1st Place – Sydney | “Love Your Enemies”
🥈 2nd Place – Ryker | “The Three Dimensions of Life”
🥉 3rd Place – Nathaniel | “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop”
Sydney will go on to represent West Point Junior High in the District MLK Jr. Speech Contest—congratulations and best of luck!
A huge thank-you to every participant for their courage, effort, and commitment to sharing Dr. King’s timeless message.

Warriors Are Wonderful — We’re Looking for Sponsors!
Hey Warrior Community!
It’s that time of year again — our annual Warriors Are Wonderful fundraiser is here! Over the past five years, West Point Junior High has raised and donated more than $38,000 to local charities, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. This year, we’re setting our sights on a new goal — $15,000 — to support two amazing causes that directly impact local families:
- Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP)
A national organization that builds and delivers beds to children who don’t have one. Every donation helps make sure no child sleeps on the floor. Learn more
- Warrior Haven
Our very own Family Connection Center here at WPJH! Warrior Haven provides students experiencing homelessness or hardship with bedding, clothing, snacks, hygiene products, and family resources. More info
How Local Businesses Can Help
Our local sponsors are the heart of this fundraiser! Your support helps us teach students the power of giving back. All donations are tax-deductible and make a lasting impact right here in Davis County.
Sponsor Benefits:
- Recognition in our weekly school newsletter (reaching over 2,000 patrons)
- Public thanks during our Warriors Are Wonderful assemblies, including the Closing Celebration on December 19, 2025
- Recognition on our school website and social media
- $600 or more: Receive a 3’×5’ banner displayed in our gym for an entire year, seen by students, families, and the community during games, assemblies, and city events!
Ways to Give
Monetary Donations: Click here to donate
In-Kind Donations: Gift cards, merchandise, coupons, or Sleep in Heavenly Peace items (twin sheet sets, comforters, pillows, wood, or tools). These items also serve as incentives for students who serve and give during the fundraiser!
Donations can be mailed to West Point Junior High or given directly to a visiting representative.
Together, let’s continue our tradition of kindness, community, and Warrior pride. Let’s show what it means to be Warriors Who Are Wonderful!

Warrior of the Week
Warrior of the Week
We are happy to announce this week's Warrior of the Week. These two ladies always show up with a smile and a kind word. Parents and students always receive the best of care when they walk through the door. They wear many hats and are often dealing with a tough situation and sometimes juggling a couple all at once. They ae super organized and keep our counselors organized and ready to go each day.
We are grateful for all they do! They are often behind the scenes and we couldn't do our job without their hard work. Congratulations Chelsea Davies and Suzi Hatch, our Counseling Center Registrars, and this weeks Warriors of the Week!!

LIA Helping Community in Many Ways
By: Sophie and Cloe
LIA (Latinas in Action) is doing so much for our school and community. They learn about three aspects of leadership skills: professional skills, social skills, and service skills. They go to Lakeside Elementary School and help out 'Little Buddies' with reading and math. LIA tutors develop skills and abilities like patience working with little ones, working with different learning needs and personalities, modeling reading and learning strategies, etc. When they do this service, they become mentors and examples to their young 'Buddies'. They even have social activities among themselves to get to know each other and become a strong team. LIA does many service projects for our school and community and sometimes it goes unnoticed by their peers at WPJH. LIA students also host professional guest speakers who come to visit and inform them about their careers. The LIA students are also in charge of all the activities they do in their class and club. This helps to teach them logistics of planning and scheduling events. We are fortunate to have this great group at West Point Jr High!
