A Message from Your Principal Team
Dear Washington Families,
What an amazing week! We had many events going on at Washington. We still have many more to come. The end of the year is on the horizon. Let's make the end of the school year the best it can be.
As we move through the final months of the school year, we also want to encourage families to stay connected with their child’s teacher. If your child is experiencing any challenges—academic, social, or emotional—please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our teachers are here to support every student, and working together helps ensure your child finishes the year strong.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our staff. Go Eagles!
Best regards,
Sincerely,
Alfredo Belanger, Principal
Antonio Ramos, Assistant Principal

National Afterschool Professionals Week!
This week, we proudly celebrate National Afterschool Professionals Week! 🎉
We want to take a moment to recognize and thank our incredible afterschool staff who go above and beyond each day to support, inspire, and care for our students. From leading engaging activities to building strong relationships, they play a vital role in creating a safe, enriching, and fun environment after the school day ends.
Thank you for your dedication, energy, and commitment to our Washington Eagles and others — we appreciate all that you do! 🦅
K/1 - Early Literacy Professional Development
Research shows that handwriting supports letter recognition, phonics, and overall reading fluency by helping students build strong neural connections between writing and language. Through continued learning and collaboration, our teachers are equipping students with the essential skills they need to become confident, capable readers and writers.
In addition, teachers across all grade levels are engaging in professional development focused on Tier 2 reading interventions. This learning supports staff in identifying students who need additional targeted instruction and implementing data-based strategies to accelerate their progress. By strengthening our Tier 2 practices, we are ensuring that students receive timely, focused support to build critical reading skills and stay on track for success.
Eagles Soccer is Back!
The wait is over. Washington has started their 5th grade Soccer team. We are excited to bring this extra curricular opportunity to our 5th grade classes. At Washington, we believe that participation in team sports not only promotes physical health but also fosters important skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. We are excited to test our soccer skills when we play against the other elementary schools. A giant thank you to Coach Delgado and Coach Reyes for your willingness to support our school soccer team. More information to come about the games. Go Eagles!
Fire drill
Safety is our top priority at school and all staff members are trained on the Standard Response Protocols for emergencies. We will continue with structured and unstructured fire drills until the school year ends.
Allergies
Up to 40 percent of children in our country experience outdoor allergies. If welcoming the new season means welcoming more sneezing and sniffling around your house, then your kids might be suffering from allergies. As the weather changes and becomes warmer we will spend more time outdoors. Seasonal allergies occur mainly with pollen so it comes from plants, weeds, grasses and trees. Typically, it comes from trees early in the spring, so in April and May.
In kids typically, we sometimes see a myriad of problems that are related to the congestion [caused by allergies]. Fatigue, especially during the daytime, poor concentration in class, learning problems and other difficulty in class can all be related to nasal congestion, because kids won't be sleeping as well at night. And then during the daytime, they're blowing their nose a lot and experiencing other symptoms. It can make having a good day very challenging. Please inform your child’s teacher and the nurse about any allergies your child might have.
