REMINDER
Dear Families,
As we begin the school year, we would like to remind everyone that our school is a closed campus. These procedures are in place to help ensure the safety and security of all of our students.
Please keep the following arrival reminders in mind:
- In the morning, family members may walk their child only as far as the stairs. From the stairs, students should continue independently with their class.
- Family members should not walk beyond the designated area unless they have received prior permission from the school.
- All visitors MUST check in with the office. Please coordinate with classroom teacher if you are volunteering in the classroom.
- The staff parking lot is for staff members only. Families should not park or drop off in the staff parking lot.
- The exception is for individuals with a valid disability placard, who may use designated accessible parking spaces as appropriate.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in following these procedures. Working together helps us maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for all of our students.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership.
Grief Counseling
If your child or teen is navigating the loss of someone meaningful in their life, we want them to know they don’t have to walk through that grief alone, and that it’s okay to not be okay. The Grief Support Group flyer below shares information about a safe, caring space where students can connect with others who can support what they’re going through.
The small, confidential groups are co-facilitated by Mrs. Diaz and The Elizabeth Hospice, offering gentle guidance and support. Each 50‑minute session is part of an 8‑week series provided at no cost to students.
The support groups are designed to help reduce feelings of isolation, build connection, lessen stigma, and strengthen healthy coping skills.
To begin a group at Golden Hill, we need at least 8 interested students. If you feel this may be helpful for your child, please reach out to our School Counselor, Mrs. Diaz, at kdiaz@sandi.net.

13 Brand New Baby Taylor Guitars Donated to our Golden Hill Eagles!
🎶🎸Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude!🎸🎶
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the San Diego Music Foundation, Golden Hill students now have the opportunity to learn, create, and make music together on 13 new Baby Taylor guitars ($449 value each, total donated value of $5,837) to support our school's music program.
Watching our 5th graders hold these instruments for the very first time was truly special.
We extend our deepest thanks to the San Diego Music Foundation for investing in our students and enriching our school's music program. We are equally grateful to Juli and Dave Crane for securing this remarkable donation, picking up the guitars and ensuring they arrived safely at our school.
Moments like this help create experiences that will resonate far beyond the classroom. From all of us at Golden Hill, thank you for helping our students find their rhythm, confidence, and the joy of making music. 💚💛
Día De Los Muertos Festival
28 October, 3:30-6:00 PM
Our annual Día de los Muertos Festival is a vibrant celebration that brings our school community together to honor loved ones who have passed, embrace cultural traditions, and share in the joy of remembrance. This meaningful event is also a time for fun, strengthening connections, and raising support for our school.
The countdown to our Día de los Muertos Festival is on! Behind the scenes, plans are taking shape, ideas are coming to life, and we're gearing up for a memorable festival that celebrates community while supporting our school.
Turn Your Extras into Smiles
Got extra party favors, treasure box treasures, or leftover candy?
Give them a second life at our Día de los Muertos Festival!
We're collecting small toys, trinkets, and individually wrapped non-chocolate candy to use as prize items at the festival. Before tossing those unused goodies, consider donating them to help bring a little extra joy to our celebration.
Please do not purchase anything new. This is simply a wonderful opportunity to clear out items you no longer need while supporting a fun community event.
Donations may be dropped off at the Front Office, addressed to the PTO, by October 16.
One family's clutter could be another child's treasure! 🎉💀🌼
Volunteers Wanted
Volunteers are the heart of this celebration. Whether you're helping decorate the ofrenda or cultural display tables, assist with games & activities, or support the food & drinks station, there are many ways to get involved—no experience needed, just a spirit of community!

San Diego Unified Phone Free District
Here at Golden Hill we had implemented a phone free policy as early as last year because we understand how phones can disrupt the learning environment. We are pleased that our district recently adopted a phone-free school day policy, developed in accordance with California's Phone-Free School Act (Assembly Bill 3216), which establishes guidelines designed to reduce interruptions to learning, foster in-person connection among peers and support healthy boundaries with technology. The state law requires all public school districts to adopt policies by July 1, 2026, making San Diego Unified an early adopter.
Please see the attached letter that will also be sent to families through our unified communications.
