Dear Parents/Guardians,

November invites us to pause, reflect, and give thanks. At EMBM School, we remember All Saintsโ€™ Day and All Soulsโ€™ Day, honouring the saints and keeping in our prayers those who have gone before us. This month also brings Remembrance Day, a time for our students to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served, and to appreciate the importance of peace, freedom, and respect.

We are grateful to partner with you in nurturing both the faith and learning of our students. May we continue to support one another, keeping Godโ€™s love at the heart of everything we do.

Mme Weber & Mme Poitras

Student-Led Conferences provide an important opportunity for you to discuss your child's learning progress. Students will spend time preparing in class so they can showcase their accomplishments and future goals with you. Since it is important to celebrate each student's academic growth, students and parents are expected to be in attendance for these conferences. Please note the following:

1. FORMAT: Conferences will be in-person. Students will have a scheduled time with you and their teacher in the classroom. If you require more time with the teacher or wish to discuss more private matters, please make arrangements with the classroom teacher to meet on a follow-up date.

2. INTERVIEW SCHEDULING: The schedule will open to parents on Tuesday, November 10th at noon. You will receive a message in your Edsby messages (the envelope icon in the left-hand corner) that you can use to reserve your conference time. The schedule will be finalized on Monday, November 23th, after which time you will have to make arrangements through your childโ€™s classroom teacher if you have not already booked a time by then.

3. EDSBY GRADES: You have access to your child's grades through Edsby at any time (for students in Grades 1-7). We encourage you to check Edsby on a regular basis, especially prior to student-led conferences so that you are aware of your child's grades prior to coming into the conference. Progress reports are also posted in Edsby for grade K.

If you are having any difficulty logging into your Edsby account, please be sure to contact the office, and Mme Menssa will be happy to help you. If you are having difficulty scheduling interviews or need to make a change to your scheduled time, please contact your childโ€™s teacher.

We are proud to be partnering with WPD Ambulance to participate in the 22nd annual Cram the Ambulance Campaign. Throughout the month of November, we will be collecting new toys to see if we can help fill the ambulance. The class that collects the most toys will receive a pizza party, courtesy of WPD Ambulance.

December: Empty Stocking Fund

For the month of Christmas, we will once again be collecting non-perishable food items for the Battlefords Food bank. Each class will be assigned an item, which will be communicated closer to December. Our grade 7s and Mme Page will then go to the food bank and help pack hampers for those in need during the holidays.

Lost and Found Lost and Found

Please label all of your child`s items.

Our lost and found is already growing to an overwhelming amount. Any time you are at school, please have a look through the lost and found. To help out school staff to find the owner of belongings, we ask that you please mark your students items: coats, sweaters, tuques, mitts, neck warmers, hats, boots.

As winter comes, it is especially important to mark a name in your child`s boots since there are often many duplicates. Every year, we have more than one case of the missing boots because someone put on the wrong pair by accident.

Children's Only Christmas Store Children's Only Christmas Store

A tradition for more than a decade

A loving tradition at EMBM is our Children's Only Christmas Store. For those who are new to this tradition, Children are able to purchase Christmas gifts for their family members for very little cost, and then grade 7 students help wrap and tag the gifts so they are ready to take home and place under the tree. The students love picking out something special for their loved ones. We are asking for any donations of the following items:

- new and used items such as kitchen items, men gifts, home decor, holiday decor, jewelry, games, wrapping paper, gift bags, gift tags, etc.

- we welcome new and used items. We just ask that items are not broken and arrive clean.

Half the proceeds made from the store are donated to a local charity. The other half goes to our Student Council to put on fun activities and purchase prizes or gifts for our students.

Thank you for all your support in keeping this tradition that the students love!!
