Dear Conover Road Primary School Families,
"Though February is short, it is filled with lots of love and sweet surprises." This statement from poet Charmaine J. Forde beautifully sums up the month of February at CRPS! This "short" month will be filled with School Spirit Days, our "Soup-er Bowl of Caring" collection that was launched at today's School Wide Meeting; Valentine's Day Class Parties; and we will reach the milestone of the 100th Day of School with a school wide celebration to celebrate being 10 days smarter, stronger, and kinder! The month will end with Read Across America Events,a festive Book Swap and Parent/Teacher Conferences.

"Soup-er" Bowl of Caring--Collection Dates February 2-6
Our School Community is committed to "tackling hunger" and food insecurity as we "score big" for FulFill NJ by donating non-perishable food items. Students will place their donated items in boxes marked for their preferred Superbowl team, the New England Patriots or the Seattle Seahawks! Children are definitely excited for their team to win, but the true winners will be those who rely on this food bank for nutritious meals.
Preschool Art Show
Our littlest artists at CRPS are excited to showcase their creative masterpieces at an upcoming art exhibit. We look forward to our Preschool families joining this special event on Friday, February 6th.
100th Day of School--Wednesday, February 18
We will celebrate our first 100 days of learning this school year with a School Wide Meeting that will challenge our school community to complete 100 Random Acts of Kindness. We know that our little COLTS are up to the challenge!
Preschool Parent Open House
Do you have a child who will be aged three or four years of age on or before October 1, 2026? If so, we invite you to come to a Preschool/Pre-K Parent Open House to learn about our 2026-2027 Preschool Offering. Join us on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at either 10:00 AM or 6:30 PM to learn about this engaging and innovative offering. Please be sure to call the front office to RSVP.
PTO Book Swap
Time to clean out those bookshelves! Please drop off gently used, age-appropriate books (Pre-K to 5th grade only) to the Primary or Elementary school lobbies from February 2nd to February 20th. All CRPS and CRES students will attend the Book Swap during school hours to choose their books. The more we get, the more we can give out!
Winter Assessments
We are continuing to administer several important assessments to help us understand each student's unique progress and to inform our instruction so that each child receives direct instruction in areas that will provide the appropriate amount of challenge for his/her readiness level:
NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress)--Grade 2–February 2-6, 2026
iReady-Grade 1-February 2-6, 2026
These assessments, in addition to the Fountas and Pinnell Reading assessments and DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) help our teachers identify each child's strengths and areas for growth. You'll receive more detailed information about your child’s progress at Parent/Teacher Conferences in February.
