Hornets' NEST News
The Principal's Newsletter
Welcome to the NEW School Year!
Although the rooms are empty at the moment, it won't be long before they are filled with a new group of students who will transform these spaces into productive classrooms. Our staff is excited about the NEW adventures and opportunities that await our students. This school year brings an added layer of excitement as we celebrate our centennial year. Several great events are in the works and I look forward to sharing them with you soon.
Each month, I will highlight various staff and teachers to inspire and positively impact our community. I will also share some historical tidbits as we honor our school's special anniversary. The HORNETs' NEST News will be launched on the 1st of each month and can also be accessed on our school's website. More than ever, it's time to strive for our personal best at the Hornet's nest.

Car Rider Process
Wednesday, August 12th, is the first day of school for student. We are excited to fill our halls and classrooms with new and familiar faces.
Deputy Landis and I will begin unloading the car rider line at 6:50 am. We ask that every student enter through the cafeteria where they can enjoy breakfast. At 7 am, additional staff will arrive to help with the car rider line and bus students will begin unloading. Students who arrive after 7:19 will take breakfast back to their classroom.
To help expedite the car rider line, please pull all the way up and have your child ready to unload when your car door is opened. The process gets faster after two weeks, so please be patient.
The afternoon car rider line will open at 1:45 pm, so please do not arrive early. It's important to form two lanes to avoid being stuck on Old Mountain Road. I've included a map for our new families to use as a reference. When you reach the end of the playground area, please merge into one lane - alternating left and right.
Your will receive a name placard during Open House. Remember to place the name placard on your dashboard and keep it there until your child is loaded into your vehicle. The first few weeks are always challenging as we help our new families learn the routine, so please extend some extra grace to everyone.
