Safety Spotlight — Update Your Emergency Contact Information

With the current school year coming to a close and next school year right around the corner, now is a good time to update your student(s)' emergency contacts in the event of an emergency. Update emergency contact information in ParentVue or call your school office to update this information.

WLPD Training at West Linn High School July 25-29

The West Linn Police Department and West Linn-Wilsonville School District would like to inform the community of important police training that will take place during the week of July 25-29 at West Linn High School.

The West Linn Police Department will undergo active shooter training at West Linn High School that will include paint marking rounds and blank rounds that sound similar to but are quieter than actual ammunition. This is routine and important training for WLPD officers that is strategically planned when students and staff are not on site.

There will be no community access to West Linn High School during the week of July 25-29 and the training area will be clearly marked. Please do not be alarmed by police presence or noise associated with this training. For questions, please contact West Linn Police Department Sgt. Bill Garland.

Riverside High School Raptors Selected as School Mascot

Riverside High School will officially be the Raptors when the school opens for the 2023-24 school year. The bird mascot and design scheme were created by West Linn High School students Max Dodge and Kyle Jensen. The two students are finalizing the logo and color scheme, which will be announced later this summer.

Riverside High School will be a comprehensive high school including core academic subject areas, co-curricular activities, access to OSAA athletics, performing and visual arts, clubs, and all of the opportunities high school students currently enjoy in WLWV. Riverside High School will also offer three new CTE (Career and Technical Education) pathway options in the areas of:

  • Health Occupations
  • Business and Marketing
  • Construction and Architecture

Meals No Longer Free Starting in 2022-23 School Year

Due to COVID-19 state and federal funding for free meals ending, students will need to pay for meals starting in 2022-23.

Eligible families are encouraged to apply for the free and reduced meal program starting in July. After applying, families will receive a letter notifying them if they’ve been approved. Families need to apply for the free and reduced meal program every year, even if they’ve applied and been approved previously. Applications can be printed or submitted electronically by visiting the district website. Applications are also available at your child’s school.

Schools will also return to our pre-pandemic meal service protocols starting in 2022-23. This requires students to enter their student ID number prior to receiving lunch. Schools will re-teach students meal protocols at the beginning of next school year, and we encourage families to start working with their students now to memorize student ID numbers.

Thank you for your attention to this meal service change.
