This Week This Week

We’re Building Success—Brick by Brick!

We're off to a great week. Down to two weeks until Thanksgiving Break, but we are still working and growing up until the last day!

This week, we will start the week off with the unveiling of our November/December Principal Book Club title and the reading on Monday afternoon in school. Then Brighter Bites food distribution after dismissal. If you haven't signed up for Brighter Bites, it's not too late! Click this link: http://www.BrighterBites.org/enroll. I've also included other food resources below in the newsletter.

Then, we have our Veteran's Day program on Tuesday at 9am with performances by 1st and 2nd grades. We invite all veterans to join us for the program and be recognized. If you have a veteran that will be joining us, please rsvp to Britney.Bloom@fortbendisd.gov for a reserved seat.

Attire: 1st Grade – Camouflage tops (green shades), black pants/black jeans

Attire: 2nd Grade – Any shirt with an American flag or veteran’s day shirt with black pants/black jeans

On Thursday, we are wearing green to raise awareness for "Kindness Day!" We will share a video on the morning announcements to remind us all what it means to be kind.

Fourth Annual Lit with Families Texas Family Literacy Festival Fourth Annual Lit with Families Texas Family Literacy Festival

Story Square believes that when we bring family - the most critical and intimate system - and literacy - the most critical skill to thriving and progress - at just the right angle, we can squarely change the world! That is why we founded the Texas Family Literacy Festival - to bring communities of families together to illuminate the wonder of literacy! And congregating together is critical at a time like now. ♥️

Currently, our American children are family-literacy starved. On average, American parents are allocating less than a minute a day to reading with or to their children and just under 5 minutes a day on educational interactions - according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics American Time Use Survey.

Keenly designed spaces like the Texas Family Literacy Festival help to fill this gap and transform how we engage and support families to increase intimate and intentional parent-child educational interactions rooted in literacy. Spaces like these create special, memorable, fun, and didactic moments for families and their children that turn into memories that support mental resilience, fortitude, and bright literate futures.

2025-2026 School Calendar 2025-2026 School Calendar

Regular school attendance is essential for students to make the most of their education. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials/objectives; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.

In Texas, truancy laws require students to attend school regularly. A student is considered truant after accumulating 10 or more unexcused absences in a six-month period, or three or more unexcused absences within a four-week period. Parents can also face consequences for contributing to their child's truancy, potentially including fines or other legal actions.
