Overall, it was a positive start to the school year. Both students and staff have settled in to a routine. We are very proud of the way our students conducted themselves this week and demonstrated Eastside Pride.

We finished our 1st week activities of distributing 3,000 Chromebooks, reviewing the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), and practicing our safety drills. Our student organizations are off and running and both Volleyball and Tennis had big wins this week.

We hope to see you next Friday at Kimbrough Stadium for our 1st Annual Community Pep Rally!

Plano East- Winning with Class!

Students will receive their student ID when they have their picture taken. School pictures will follow this schedule:

9-11 grade: August 18-19 (Building A - Auditorium Stage)

Seniors that didn't have pictures taken during the summer: August 20-22, 25-26 (Gym Foyer)

Students will be escorted to have their picture taken during their Social Studies class. Each teacher will be assigned a time and day to take their class.

• Any student who does not have a Social Studies class should go to the designated location listed above during their lunch.
• If a student is enrolled in a Dual Credit social studies course, they should go to the designated location when they are scheduled to have a dual credit social studies class.

We are excited to invite our parents up to our annual open house on September 3rd. On this evening, we will provide an opportunity for our teachers to share with you some of the exciting things about their classes your students will be learning this year. The evening begins at 6 pm with zero hour. Parents will follow the typically shortened schedule. Please find this letter with more details about open house.

Attention to students in classes associated with AP Classroom,

Whether you have an existing College Board account or are creating a new account make sure the email address on file is your PISD student email. You cannot use your personal email or phone number on your college board account. If you have any question your AP teachers can help walk you through this process. There is a google slides presentation that goes step by step they can share with you. This is necessary for you to be able to continue to access AP classroom throughout the school year as well as for AP testing. You can find more information here.

• All families need to complete the annual registration forms to ensure you have access to the 2025-26 schedule.
• This link will help you create your new account in SKYWARD.
• Students with finalized schedules can view them in Family Access starting August 5th.
• For a list of items that each family must complete for each student, please follow this link.
• If you need assistance with the process, please email familyaccess@pisd.edu or call the PISD Helpdesk at 469-752-8767.

Student route information for eligible students will be available for parents on Wednesday, August 6th. To access student bus route information, parents must utilize the student’s Skyward account. Select the Transportation tab and choose the bus stop for specifics.

Schedule Correction/Change Guidelines

A schedule change MAY be made if:

• A student is enrolled in a class for which they already have credit

• A student has the same class on their schedule twice

• A class needed for graduation is not on the schedule

• Government/Economics are in the same semester and the student would prefer to separate these classes out.

• A class period is missing on the schedule

• A student wants to move in or out of a sport or other UIL activity (requires permission from the coach/teacher)

A schedule change MAY NOT be made if:

• A student wants to change electives they selected during the course selection process.
• A student wants a teacher change.
• A student wants to change periods.
• A student wants to change lunches.
• A student would like to change levels of a course. (These requests will need to be made at a later date.)

During the first few weeks of school, all students are required to attend Expectation Talks. These discussions will take place during each students English class. if a student is taking dual credit for English, they are expected to attend during their dual credit English class. Seniors will be attending on Monday, August 25, Juniors August 21, and 9th and 10th graders on August 26. During these discussions, we will share important information about how to have the most successful school year possible and understand our campus expectations. We look forward to seeing everyone.

• Student parking will be purchased through Rycor. Student parking tags can be picked up in the cafeteria during lunches beginning on Monday, August 18.

• In order for meal benefits to continue, a federal meal application for the 25-26 school year must be completed.
• Students with no application on file after 30 operating days will return to full-paid eligibility status effective September 25th.
• All Households that have previously submit a federal meal application for free or reduced-priced meals need to reapply.
• Households who wish to apply will need to complete an online federal meal application for the current school year.
• Applications will be processed within 10 business days.
• Eligibility notification letters will be sent via email.

Hello Plano East Families!

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year! My name is Mitzi Behnke and I am happy to serve as the PTSA President, supporting our school and community. The PTSA Board has been preparing for many of the events that make PESH a great place to be. Senior Parking Painting will take place over the weekends of August 8th – 10th, and August 15th – 17th. We are grateful to the families who purchased these spaces as this fundraiser allows the PTSA to fund scholarships and the Senior Celebration in May. If you are looking for Plano East spirit wear, it is available for pre-order on our website at www.planoeastptsa.org and we will have a table on campus during Expedition East and at the Community Pep Rally on August 22nd. Please consider becoming a member of the PTSA to help us with our mission, memberships are available on our website. If you have an existing Membership Toolkit (MTK) account from another school, that same login information will work on our website. If you would like to volunteer, please be sure to complete the volunteer registration and background check through Plano ISD.

PARKING PERMITS

EVERY STUDENT WHO PARKS ON CAMPUS (EVEN THOSE WHO PURCHASED A SENIOR SPOT) MUST PURCHASE A PISD PARKING PERMIT! The PTSA cannot assign a reserved Senior parking spot until proof is submitted that a PISD parking permit has been purchased. Parking permits are available for purchase in Rycor.

The first round of spirit wear has arrived and the PTSA will be distributing orders on August 21 & August 22 during both A & B lunches.
