UNICORN WEEKLY
Week of August 31, 2026
From the Principal
EVERY CHILD IS A MASTERPIECE IN PROGRESS
Dear Unicorn Families,
What an exciting week at our school! We were honored to receive a surprise visit from the Wagner High School Drumline and Cheerleaders, who came to help celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff. Their visit recognized our achievement of earning a B Accountability Rating last school year. This accomplishment reflects the commitment, perseverance, and teamwork of our entire school community, and we are incredibly proud of what was achieved together.
As we continue building momentum for another successful year, please mark your calendars for September 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for our Open House and Annual Title I Meeting. We look forward to welcoming families into our school, sharing important information, and highlighting the exciting learning opportunities planned for the year ahead.
We would also like to remind families about our dismissal procedures. Beginning at 3:15 p.m., the back gate will be locked following student dismissal. If you arrive after that time, you will need to pick up your child in the front office. Also, please remember to continue displaying your child's car rider tag in a visible location.
Additionally, we ask for everyone's cooperation and courtesy during afternoon pickup. Please be respectful of the families who have been patiently waiting in line. To help ensure a safe and efficient dismissal process for all students, please avoid cutting in line or blocking intersections. Your patience and consideration help keep our students, families, and staff safe.
Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and success together! 💙💛
Warm regards,
Ms. Kari Savage-Egg

Lesson Getting the Teacher's Attention Appropriately
If you would like to reinforce the lessons on Getting Attention Appropriately we recommend 4 popular kids books that could lead to great discussions. These could also probably be found on utube as well Interrupting Chicken by Stein, Ivan the Terrier by Calalanotto, Ruby Sings the Blues by Daly, and Babushka's Doll by Polacco Sample Qs: What was the character's big problem? (loud voice/interrupting others) How did other characters like it when that happened?
The Goal: Remind students when we want the teacher's attention We raise our hand. In order to be fair and give everyone a chance to answer. Plus, you are showing and using great manners.
Summary/Key Phrase: When we want the teacher's attention, We raise our hand
