DHS March Newsletter
Principal's Message
I am thrilled to share some outstanding news regarding our school’s attendance trends. Thanks to the collective effort of our entire community, our Average Daily Attendance (ADA) currently stands at 95.4%—a significant 10.9% increase compared to this time last year.
Additionally, our Chronic Absenteeism (CA) rate is down to 8.9%. This puts us ahead of our 2025-26 school year goal to finish under 10%.
Looking Ahead
While these milestones are worth celebrating, we cannot "take our foot off the gas." With four months remaining in the school year, these numbers can shift quickly. To maintain this momentum, we must remain diligent and finish the year strong.
With Husky Pride,
Mr. Garcia
Luke Jennings - Valedictorian
Luke is a driven student who genuinely loves diving into the complexities of science and math, especially biology and physics. He’s already set his sights on a pre-med track, a goal fueled by his impressive hands-on experience as an EMT with over 300 volunteer hours. One of his proudest moments was balancing a rigorous six-month EMT certification program while keeping up his grades and staying active in leadership roles like Vice President of the NHS. Beyond his interest in the medical world, Luke plays the clarinet and spends his free time working on various art projects. In the summer he works as a recreation counselor, which helped him learn that he wants to work in a profession helping others. Luke’s mix of hard work and a positive, open-minded outlook makes him a standout student.

Her teachers note that she is a pleasure to have in class, consistently asking insightful questions that clarify complex topics not just for herself, but for her peers as well. Most impressively, Marielys has shown incredible growth in her writing this year; her commitment to her craft truly proves that persistence and hard work pay off.
Isabel’s passion for English is evident in everything she does, particularly through her exceptional writing. She brings a vibrant energy to the classroom, frequently engaging in discussions and posing insightful questions that demonstrate a profound understanding of—and genuine interest in—our literary readings. Isabel’s commitment to excellence is unwavering; she consistently produces thorough, high-quality work that sets a standard for her peers. Her academic curiosity and dedication to her craft make her a truly deserving Student of the Month.
