Chromebook Carts
Elementary & Middle School Students
Elementary and Middle School students will not be issued a Chromebook. Students will use Chromebook carts as needed in the classrooms.
Technology & Screen Time in the Classroom
It's Not About the Clock
Screen time isn't about the clock β it's about what students are actually doing. Teachers plan lessons using a Purpose β Strategy β Tool framework: they start with the learning objective, choose the best teaching approach, and only then decide if a device fits.
Technology follows the lesson, not the other way around.
In practice, this means Chromebooks live on classroom carts at the elementary and middle school levels β brought out for specific tasks, not left on by default. Every digital tool is vetted, and student data is protected through district policy and vendor privacy agreements.
Optional Chromebook Protection Plan for Students in Grades 9-12
Every new Prosper ISD student in grades 9β12, along with returning incoming 9th graders, will be issued a Chromebook and charger for both school and home use. Returning students in grades 10-12, will continue to use the unit previously assigned to them. While these devices enhance learning opportunities, students are responsible for their care and protection. To help families manage potential repair costs, Prosper ISD offers an optional Technology Device Protection Plan.
