Google Meet - Host Controls
Google Meet host controls are features that allow the meeting host to manage the meeting environment and participants. These controls offer a range of functionalities, including:
Controlling who can join a meeting:
- Require approval to join: Hosts can decide whether participants need to be explicitly approved before joining the meeting.
- Enable waiting room: Hosts can place participants in a waiting room before admitting them to the main meeting. This allows the host to screen participants and ensure that only authorized individuals join the meeting.
Managing participant actions:
- Mute/unmute participants: Hosts can mute individual participants or all participants at once.
- Remove participants: Hosts can remove disruptive or unauthorized participants from the meeting.
- Turn on/off participant cameras: Hosts can control whether participants can turn on their cameras during the meeting.
- Turn on/off participant chat: Hosts can control whether participants can chat with each other during the meeting.
- Share control: Hosts can grant control of their screen to other participants, allowing them to present or co-host the meeting.
Presenting and sharing content:
- Present screen: Hosts can share their entire screen or specific applications and windows with participants.
- Present a whiteboard: Hosts can use the built-in whiteboard to collaborate with participants in real-time.
- Present a file: Hosts can upload and share files with participants during the meeting.
Recording meetings:
- Start/stop recording: Hosts can record the meeting with audio and video.
- Download recording: After the meeting, hosts can download the recording and share it with participants.
Other features:
- Enable/disable polls: Hosts can create and use polls to gather feedback from participants.
- Breakout rooms: Hosts can divide participants into smaller breakout rooms for discussions or group work.
- Live captions: Hosts can enable live captions for the meeting, making it accessible to hearing-impaired participants.
These are just some of the key Google Meet host controls. The specific features and functionality available may vary depending on the Google Meet plan or edition you are using.
