Notes from MVPS Administration π
A message from Principal Heather Vincent
I hope all of our Mustang families are enjoying a summer filled with rest, recharging, and memory-making! With just over a month until the start of the school year, we wanted to share a few important reminders as you begin preparing for Back to School.
During the May district Board of Education meeting, the board approved the purchase of new computers for Maize Virtual students! These will be provided to all of our students in August at curriculum distribution. Students that are in 8B through 12th grades will receive a 13" MacBook Neo with case, and grades K-8 will receive an 11.6" Chromebook with case.
Maize By Design students will receive their curriculum boxes in a few short weeks. Please read the below article on how to proceed with that FedEx shipment being sent to your home.
Along with their new MacBooks, high school students will receive their totes of books during Curriculum Distribution.
Please review the Curriculum Distribution options listed in the βPicking up Computers and Curriculumβ section of this newsletter and reserve a time that works best for your family. If none of the available options fit your schedule, please contact the office for assistance. With the exciting change of new MacBooks and Chromebooks, it will be imperative that we have all of our families attend distribution this school year.
We look forward to seeing all of our Mustang families very soon!

K-8 Curriculum Arriving via FedEx This Month! π
K-8 families, boxes of curriculum are headed your way later this month! Our curriculum vendors, Beyond the Page and BookShark utilize FedEx to ship all of the amazing materials we use for studentsβ Individualized Learning Plans. You have two options when your curriculum arrives at your door.
Option 1: Unpack and organize your materials so that you have out only what you need to begin the year.
Families are encouraged to store them in a safe place until further guidance is provided by their teachers. While itβs tempting (and exciting!) to dive into the new materials, keeping everything together will help ensure items donβt get misplaced before the first day of school.Option 2: Put the boxes to the side and wait a few weeks before getting started.
The Unpacking Process:
- Open your boxes and carefully remove the materials. Save the packing slip(s).
- Use the included packing slip to confirm all items are included.
- Use the Curriculum Issues Google Form to communicate any missing or incorrect items from your shipment. MVPS will take care of any issues for you.
- Keep out only the materials that you need for the first few weeks of school.
- Designate a safe storage area for all materials not in use so that learning is new and engaging when the necessary items are revealed.
- Tip of the Day! If you are schooling multiple students, designate a color coding system with dot stickers. Each childβs books get their own designated color of dot stickers on all of their books. This makes keeping materials organized and easy to access.
Picking up Computers and Curriculumβ
