It was a GREAT Week at Hendricks!
Kindergarten Bus Drop-Off Safety Reminder: For the safety of our youngest students, Shelbyville Central Schools requires that all kindergarten students be met at the bus stop by a parent, guardian, older responsible sibling, or another approved adult listed on the Student Release Authorization Form provided by the parent.
Please be sure the approved adult is physically present at the bus stop when the bus arrives so the driver can safely release your child directly to them.
If the driver does not recognize the adult meeting your child, they will ask to see identification and verify that the individual is listed on the Student Release Authorization Form.
If no approved adult is present at the stop, your child will be returned to school, and the parent will be contacted.
Thank you for helping us keep our youngest students safe and for your cooperation with this important safety procedure!
Toys/Fidgets: Please remember to keep toys and fidgets at home. If a student needs a fidget or sensory item, Hendricks has plenty available to share. Items are getting lost and broken and we want to make sure that students' items are safe at home. Thank you for your help!
Car Riders: Please remember that parents need to remain in their cars during arrival and dismissal. We want to ensure the line moves smoothly and we want to keep everyone safe. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!
School Hours: Student car rider drop off begin at 7:25 with the tardy bell ringing at 7:45. Every Wednesday is EARLY RELEASE. Students will be dismissed at 2:00.
Reporting Student Absences: If your child is absent from school, please call the main office, 317-398-7432 and report it on the attendance line. When reporting an absence, please be sure to include your child's name, grade, teacher, and the reason the student is absent. Our student attendance goal is 94%!
Transportation Changes: If you are making a permanent change in transportation, a "Transportation Change" form must be filled out. These can be found in the main office. It could take up to 48 hours for a change in transportation to take affect. If an after school transportation change is necessary due to doctors appointments or other after school emergency purposes, please try to call the main office before 1:30. This helps us get the message out to our teachers to avoid any transportation issues. All car riders must be picked up in the car rider line. Student may not be picked up in the office for regular daily pickup. Thank you for your cooperation!
Birthday Treats - We love to celebrate our students' birthdays at school! Due to allergies, we ask that no edible treats be brought in for birthdays! Thank you for your cooperation in keep our Hurricanes safe!
Party Invitations - A reminder that per the Elementary School Handbook, "School personnel cannot give another parent or student an address or phone number for any student. Personal party invitations may not be distributed at school."
Lunches- Just a reminder that students lunches are $2.85. Breakfast will continue to be free for al students. We encourage all parents to fill out the free and reduced lunch form to ensure that if you qualify, you will receive lunch assistance.
If you still need a car rider number, please use the QR code to get signed up!
Reminders for the 2026-2027 School Year:

We are providing Universal Free Breakfast for all Shelbyville Central students this year!
We encourage all families, regardless of income, to complete and submit a short, confidential school meal application prior to the start of the school year to ensure that there are no gaps in meal benefits for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Parents or guardians can submit this application online or in person at your child’s school office. It’s an easy and confidential way to ensure your child stays well-nourished at school.
