CES Chippewa Chats

Dear Chippewa Families,

Welcome to our 2026-2027 school year! We are excited for our first day with students. Teachers have worked hard to have classrooms and lessons ready to begin the year.

Here are some important dates and times to know:

Open Houses:

• Chippewa Elementary Open House for 1st- 5th grade is Monday, August 17th 4:00-6:00
• Kindergarten Open House is Friday, August 21st 4:00-6:00

First day of School for 1st- 5th grade

• Wednesday, August 19th
• Doors open at CIS at 8:05 anyone arriving after 8:25 is tardy - Dismissal is at 3:25

First day of School for Kindergarten is Monday, August 24th.

Please make sure to log into Final Forms and update your information for this school year: http://www.chippewa.k12.oh.us/district/final-forms. This is how all bus transportation is being completed, so we need this completed as soon as possible.

Just a reminder, we will have CHIPP Time early release Fridays this school year starting on Friday, September 18th. Chippewa Elementary will release at 2:45.

NEW Free and Reduced applications need to be returned by October 1st. Those who qualified last year must submit a new application by October 1st. Returning this application can help our school receive funds that helps all students at Chippewa Elementary School.

Remember that our first PTO meeting will be held Thursday, September 3rd at CES in the Library at 6:30 p.m.

We would like to remind you that CHIPP Early Release Fridays will begin on Friday, September 18th. On these days, CES dismissal will occur at 2:45. Please make arrangements to ensure your child is picked up on time.

We want to ensure our students’ safety throughout the school year.

*All buses will load and unload at the front of the school.

Parent Drop off and Pick up:

Parent drop off in the morning: Students will not be permitted to exit vehicles or stand at the doors before doors open at 8:05. Parents will pull into the Chippewa Elementary back parking lot by the baseball field. Parents will pull in along the sidewalk and students will exit vehicles from the driver side back door on to the side walk only to ensure student safety in the drop off process. Please see the picture for morning drop off.

Chippewa Elementary dismissal is New! Please see the attached picture and watch the quick video (1 minute and 10 seconds) to know how we will dismiss. All cars will have a placard with your students/family last name(s). All vehicles will pull into the baseball field driveway, then pull into lanes, starting with lane one. Then creating lane 2, lane 3, lane 4, and lane 5. Cars will dismiss starting at Lane 1 and can only leave through the driveway labeled exit. You will always be flagged out by a staff member to ensure student safety throughout dismissal.

As a school district, we appreciate celebrating our students and their birthdays. To ensure the safety of all our students, we kindly ask that families consider sending any birthday or holiday treats as items that are not food related. We encourage pencils, erasers, small items to be shared. Birthday treats that are brought to school must be prepackaged or purchased from a source where nutritional information can be verified online.

This policy helps us accommodate students with food allergies, diabetes, and other health concerns, making celebrations safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Chippewa Elementary School students will have to have a consistent, one-way transportation arrangement home from school to ensure their safety and simplify tracking. Families will need to select one primary transportation method for their child: riding the bus home, being picked up in the car loop, or walking home.

Please note that CHIPP Early Release Fridays will remain an exception to this policy. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to create a safe and efficient dismissal process for all students!
