Former WSD Board Member Martin Barron Nominated for Uplift Award

Congratulations to former Wenatchee School District Board Director Martin Barron, who has been selected as a nominee for the prestigious Uplift Award. The award recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations in the Wenatchee Valley making significant contributions to protecting civil rights, promoting social justice, or advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Barron is one of three individual nominees this year, alongside City of Wenatchee Director of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services David Erickson and civil rights investigator Wilma Cartagena. Two organizations—Hand-in-Hand Immigration Services and NCW Libraries—are also nominated.

The award ceremony will take place during the Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Fest on Friday, January 17. The free community event, hosted by the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center, the City of Wenatchee, and the NCW Equity Alliance, celebrates the valley's cultural heritage while honoring Dr. King's enduring impact.

Join us in congratulating Martin Barron for this well-deserved recognition of his dedication to our community.
