πΎ HCS COMES TOGETHER! πΎ
On October the 14th, our HCS community gathered for our first schoolwide assembly of the year! Students celebrated being part of our Husky community, cheered for one another during our schoolwide roll call, and watched a special video exploring the question, βWhat Would a Husky Do?β
Together, we reflected on what it means to be a Husky: taking care of ourselves, taking care of each other, and taking care of this place.
With help from the Student Leadership Council and a special appearance by Hero the Husky, we also learned a new HCS call-and-response chant! Students and staff joined their voices together, building school spirit and creating a new tradition we can carry into future assemblies and community events.
It was a wonderful way to start the year together and celebrate what makes HCS special. Hereβs to a year of being strong, kind, and caring Huskies!
Huskies care - how about you?
FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS VISITED SHELBURNE FARMS
On Friday, October 9, 2026 the fourth grade team spent the morning at Shelburne Farms participating in the Geology Rocks program. The 4th graders learned about regional geological history, rock formation, and rock properties. The hands-on activities were engaging and a wonderful complement to our 4th grade geology standards.

HCS IS LOOKING FOR COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS FOR STUDENT WORKSHOPS
The HCS 7th and 8th Grade Teams are in their third year of Workshop Wednesdays. Roughly every 6 weeks we use one Wednesday long morning block to offer a variety of opportunities for students to participate in. Workshops in the past have included mountain biking, painting watercolor cards, hiking, baking, making sushi, making fresh pasta and sauce, canoeing, using CAD to design and 3D print, ice skating, ice fishing, and so much more.
On November 4th we are going to hold the first community service themed set of workshops. We are envisioning partnering with local non-profits or residents to help with tasks they need, from raking leaves, to stacking wood, shelving supplies, and many other ideas we havenβt thought of yet. Our hope is to have a set of about ten different workshops for students to choose from.
We need your help to make this happen. Do you have a suggestion for local needs, and maybe even who to contact? Could you help arrange a service workshop but canβt help run it? Could you volunteer your time on 11/4 from about 9:45am-12:30pm to support the actual service projects? Please fill out this form if you have ideas, or could give your time to organize, or could volunteer on the event day.
