Lincoln Family Newsletter- February 2026
As we enter February, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the progress our students have made this year. Every student at Lincoln has grown in the ELA and math from the beginning of the year until now. We are proud of the hard work our students and staff have done to grow everyone in the building. I encourage all of our students parents and guardians to remain engaged in your child's education. Together we can reach the full potential of every student. See you later this month at conferences!!

WUSD to Host Discovery Day for Future 4K Students
Families with young children are invited to learn about the Whitewater Unified School District’s 4K program during Discovery Day on Friday, February 20.
Discovery Day offers families an opportunity to explore 4K classrooms, meet educators, and learn how the district supports early learning through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction. Attendees may select a one-hour time slot between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Lincoln Elementary School.
“Our 4K program provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning by focusing on social, emotional, and academic growth in a welcoming environment,” said Superintendent Samuel Karns. “Discovery Day is a great opportunity for families to see firsthand how we support our youngest learners and partner with families from the very beginning of their educational journey.”
Families are encouraged to sign up in advance for Discovery Day by visiting bit.ly/WUSD4kDicoveryDay.
Additional information about 4K enrollment and enrollment for families new to the district is available at wwusd.org/page/4k-and-new-to-the-district-kg .

Southern Lakes Anthology!
Congratulations to Kennedy Probst, Kinsley Egnoski and Isabella Rodriguez on having their pieces selected to be published in this year's Southern Lakes Anthology. They created art to go along with this year's theme, "The Journey". There were over 800 pieces from 38 districts reviewed at the regional judging session on January 21st. About 350 of those were selected for publication based on a rubric scoring system.
What's Up in PE?
Students have been focusing on learning a variety of different ways of traveling from one side to the otherside of the gymnastic mats. 3rd through 5th grade students have been introduced and learned many different types or rolls and cartwheels while younger students learned a variety of different rolls as well with many different animal walks. This was all about body exploration to increase muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. We will start human pyramids with students in 3rd-5th grade before moving into our Ninja Jump Rope Challenge in February!
Music Makings
In January, Intermediate students learned about and wrote their own parodies to reteach the classroom expectations since coming back from Winter Break. Primary students had some folk dancing fun to keep us warm in the winter months. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., we learned about Freedom Songs of the Civil Rights Movement at all grade levels. Moving forward we will be studying the instrument families and what makes them each unique. We are looking forward to more collaborative music making in February and beyond, especially as we start to prepare for Fine Arts Night coming up! It'll be here before we know it on April 23rd!

After School Car Line Pick-Up
Thank you for your patience as we change the afternoon car line pick-up. To increase the safety of our students and keep students in an orderly fashion students being picked up in the car rider line will wait inside until their ride is pulled up next to school. There are two staff outside and multiple staff inside waiting with our students.
All School Movie Day!
On Thursday, February 19 our students will celebrate all of the hours they read through the end of the Read-A-Thon by watching an all school movie. Students in grades K-2 will watch "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile" and grades 3-5 will watch "Tales of Despereaux". If you would rather have your child do an alternative activity in the classroom please contact your student's classroom teacher before Tuesday, February 17.
Winter Weather Guidelines
It is once again that time of the year where we need to be thinking about the winter weather. Below, you will find Superintendent Karns' letter giving you all of the information on delays, closures, recess guidelines, and the list of sources of where to find our weather-related announcements.
Daily Breakfast
Breakfast Eaters- Breakfast is FREE for all Students for the school year
Any student who would like a breakfast provided by the school will be offered one. Students who are car riders or walkers and who would like breakfast should arrive to school at 7:30 and enter through the TURTLE DOORS (door number 7). Parents should drop off in the one way drop off line and students can walk to the turtle doors (next to garden). Bus riders can enter the cafeteria upon arrival if they are eating breakfast. There will be NO BREAKFAST SERVED AFTER 7:55AM to ensure that students are in their classrooms ready for the day at 8:00AM
Attendance Matters
Our goal at Lincoln is for every student to attend school at minimum 95% of school days! Last month our school wide attendance rate was 93.7%. 243 Lincoln students met their individual goal of being at Lincoln 95% or more last month. Let's be above 95% this month!
