From Principal Lakin's Desk
Hello Davisburg Community,
As we head into the final days of the school year, there is much to celebrate and many reasons to be proud of our students, staff, and families.
Last week, we officially completed our third and final i-Ready assessment window of the school year. These assessments provide valuable information about student growth in both reading and mathematics and help us better understand how to support our students moving forward. Thank you to our students for their effort and perseverance throughout the testing process and to our families for your continued encouragement and support.
Our 5th-grade students had an incredible experience this week at camp on Thursday and Friday. The memories they created, lessons they learned, and relationships they strengthened will stay with them for years to come. I would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Wanamaker, Mrs. Swalwell, and our Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Howe, for the countless hours of planning, organizing, and problem-solving that made this amazing opportunity possible for our students. Their dedication helped create an experience our 5th graders will never forget.
On Friday, our fourth-grade students wowed the students, staff, parents, and guardians of Davisburg Elementary with their incredible Fourth Grade Wax Museum! Thanks to the support of their families and the amazing efforts of Mrs. Strong, Mrs. Sullivan, and Mrs. Labrecque, this event was a tremendous success.
Students transformed into a variety of historical figures and influential individuals, including Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Lucille Ball, Cyndi Lauper, and many others. Dressed in costume and standing proudly as "wax figures," students brought history to life. When visitors pressed the button at each display, the students came to life and shared a biography of the person they were portraying.
The hard work, preparation, and confidence displayed by our students were truly impressive. This project not only showcased their learning but also their public speaking skills, creativity, and dedication. We are incredibly proud of our fourth graders for the outstanding job they did and grateful to our teachers and families for helping make this memorable learning experience possible. Great job, fourth grade!
Another special tradition continued this week as graduating seniors who once walked the halls of Davisburg Elementary returned to visit us wearing their caps and gowns. Our students and staff lined the blacktop to cheer them on as they made one final walk through the building before heading off to graduation festivities. It is always one of the most meaningful moments of the year.
For our youngest learners, seeing these graduates serves as a powerful reminder that hard work, perseverance, and determination can lead to incredible accomplishments. For our staff, it is a wonderful opportunity to see the impact of their efforts and to celebrate the success of former students whose journeys began right here at Davisburg. Moments like these remind us that while we may only have students for a few short years, the influence of a caring school community can last a lifetime.
Looking ahead, we are excited for our annual Field Day on Friday, June 5, 2026. This is always a favorite event for students and staff alike and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a year of hard work, learning, and growth. We are looking forward to a day filled with fun, teamwork, and plenty of smiles.
As the school year draws to a close, I encourage families to take a moment to reflect on how much your child has grown academically, socially, and emotionally this year. Every student has made progress, overcome challenges, and developed new skills that will help them succeed in the future. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout the school year. It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as the principal of Davisburg Elementary. While summer break is quickly approaching, I am already looking forward to all of the opportunities and successes that await us next year.
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, thank you for being part of our Davisburg family.

Final LEAD Assembly of the 2025-2026 School Year
Friday May 22, 2026
We recognized our May LEADers of the Month, celebrated the incredible amount of money our students raised for Paws for a Cause, and held a special raffle for students who demonstrated LEADership throughout the school year.
To qualify for the raffle, students had to be named a LEADer of the Month at some point during the 2025-2026 school year. Three lucky winners (one from Young 5s–1st Grade, one from 2nd–3rd Grade, and one from 4th–5th Grade) were selected based on student nominations and each received a $50 prize.
As an added surprise, Officer Heather and Oakley joined the assembly, bringing plenty of smiles and excitement to our celebration!
Davisburg is filled with incredible students who demonstrate what it means to LEAD every day by Listening to Others, Encouraging Everyone, Acting with Responsibility, and Demonstrating Kindness & Respect. We are proud of all of our students and the positive impact they make on our school community each day! ❤️🖤
Keep leading, Davisburg LEADers! 🎉🐾🏆

Revisiting Habit 8: Find Your Voice
Finding your voice is about finding something that you are good at, passionate about and really like doing. Then you use this to help and inspire others.
To work on Habit 8 Find Your Voice at home: Talk to your child about what they are good at and enjoy. Make a plan for how they could use this to help or inspire others. How can they use this to make a positive difference for someone else?
