Timber Talks
River Mill Elementary - June 6th
Dear River Mill Families,
What an exciting week it’s been at River Mill! Many of our students had the opportunity to participate in field trips, Career Day, and our Spring Fling celebration. We are incredibly grateful to all the families and community members who volunteered their time and energy to make these events both meaningful and memorable. Our students represented our school with pride, positivity, and respect—we couldn’t be prouder. Our district communications team put together a fantastic video from Career Day—be sure to take a moment to watch and celebrate this wonderful event with live reports from our students! The video is linked below. Thank you for your continued support in making River Mill such a special place to learn and grow!
We have an exciting final week of school ahead and so much more in store for our students! Each day counts, so please continue to send your child to school on time, ready to learn, grow, and make the most of every moment. We can’t wait to finish the year strong together!
Class Placement Preview for Next Year
On Monday next week, our students will have a special opportunity to meet the teacher we expect them to have next school year. Our staff worked hard to create class lists early to help reduce summer anxiety and support a smoother transition into the fall. Students will get a chance to learn a little about their future classroom and what to expect in the next grade level, which we hope builds excitement and confidence. While we are hopeful these placements remain unchanged, sometimes circumstances—like enrollment shifts or staffing updates—may require adjustments before the new school year begins. If any changes do occur, we will communicate with families as soon as possible.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work to set all students up for a great start next year!

Be On Time and Stay All Day
At River Mill, we want to ensure every student has the best opportunity to learn and grow each day. Recently, we’ve noticed an increase in tardies and early pick-ups, and we want to remind families how important it is for students to be at school on time and stay for the full day. Arriving late can cause students to miss important instruction, while leaving early means they may not get the full benefit of their learning time. Every minute in the classroom matters! We understand that occasional appointments and emergencies happen, but whenever possible, please schedule these outside of school hours. Thank you for your support in making sure your child gets the most out of their school day!
Attendance Matters
Did you know that many of our youngest students miss about 10% of the school year—around 14 days, or just two days a month? This level of chronic absenteeism in elementary school can predict lower test scores and challenges with retention in later grades. Every day and every minute of school matters, contributing to your child's growth and success! Please help us support your child's learning by ensuring they attend school every day and arrive on time. Thank you for partnering with us to build strong habits for lifelong learning!
