Launching the D303 Communitywide Education Facilities Committee Launching the D303 Communitywide Education Facilities Committee

Dear D303 Community:

In my three years as superintendent, we have done a lot of great work together to support our students and schools. We’ve done so with a close eye on maximizing the impact of our resources and your tax dollars. That has included staffing efficiencies, boundary and facility changes to ensure we’re making the best use of our buildings, and operational improvements to strengthen our bottom line and fiscal foundation.

Now it’s time to turn our attention to our school buildings and learning facilities. Over the past three years, we have increased spending on the upkeep of our buildings and campuses, but it has been decades since D303 has made a significant, communitywide investment in our campuses and classrooms. It is our responsibility to ensure that we are taking good care of our learning facilities, for today’s students and future generations.

At Tuesday’s School Board meeting, we shared this “Investing in D303’s Education Facilities” presentation. Following the presentation and School Board discussion, the Board directed us to take this important dialogue to our D303 community. In addition to assessing the basic maintenance and upkeep needs of our buildings, the Board is seeking the community’s input on our student-learning spaces and programmatic facilities.

As a result, I am pleased to launch the process for creating the D303 Communitywide Education Facilities Committee. Over the next five months, we will be bringing together D303 parents, staff, students, and community members to review, assess, and discuss our schools and learning facilities. The Board is seeking input in four areas: funding, basic maintenance/upkeep, student-learning and activity spaces, and programmatic facilities. The process will culminate in a D303 Communitywide Facilities Committee report to the School Board that details the community’s expectations in these areas.

We invite parents, staff, high school students, and community members to serve on the Committee and be a part of this important conversation. If you are interested, there is more information–including planned meeting dates–in this D303 Communitywide Facilities Committee application. The application period will close at 5 p.m. on November 7, 2025.

We’re looking forward to working with our community to determine the right level of investment in our D303 education facilities and to continue building pathways to excellence for all of our students…today and for generations to come.

Thank you for being a part of D303.

Paul
