More Than School Meals! Complete the Application for District Funding & Student Support
To ensure your child’s access to meals is not interrupted and to help West Bloomfield School District secure critical state and federal funding, we need ALL families to complete the Education & Nutrition Benefits Application (formerly known as the Free & Reduced Meals Application).
Complete the application today at: https://westbloomfield.familyportal.cloud/
If parents need assistance or have questions about completing the form, please contact Andrea Grobe at andrea.grobe@wbsd.org.
Free breakfast and lunch for all students will continue through September 30, 2025. VERY IMPORTANT - it is still uncertain whether the state will provide funding to offer free meals for all students after September 30, 2025.
Why it matters:
Your application helps ensure we can continue to provide nutritious meals to all students.
Funding tied to our free/reduced rate supports far more than meals; it impacts academic programs, athletic programs, technology, and student services.
Even if you think you may not qualify, completing the form still helps the district.
Thank You!
State Representative Noah Arbit signed the Oakland County School Boards Association K-12 funding pledge. By committing to protect these essential funding sends a message that Oakland County classrooms and kids come first.
Important Bus Safety Tips with Tanja Thomas & Sheila Burns
- School bus safety reminders: Parents should never pass a school bus that is loading or unloading, always know pick-up and drop-off times, and use the Bus Zone app to track buses in real time.
- Driver and student safety rules: Motorists must stop at least 20 feet from a bus with flashing red lights, obey school zone speed limits, and remain alert; parents play a key role in teaching children proper bus etiquette like boarding safely, using handrails, and reporting issues.
- Training, communication, and enforcement: Bus drivers receive CPR, first aid, and safety training; parents are fined $500 if they step onto buses; and ongoing communication between families, transportation staff, and the district is essential for building a strong culture of safety.

Track Your Route!
- The Bus Zone App is available for iOS, Android and web and allows families to track their student(s) bus along its route, to and from school. Families will need to have their student(s) ID numbers which are available in PowerSchool in order to log into the app and create an account. Check out the transportation page for details.
- As a safety protocol, the Bus Zone app will only allow families to see their student(s) bus route(s) only.
- Please download and complete the app: Apple App Store and Google Play
Sinking Fund Replacement
On November 4, 2025 voters will be asked to consider replacing the current Sinking Fund millage, which is estimated to remain at the current 1.1552 mill levy, and extend the levy from 2027 to 2036. This levy provides approximately $3.2 million annually to fund:
- Facility and infrastructure improvements
- Safety and security measures
- Technology devices and infrastructure
